Custody Middle Office is responsible for responding to all Transactional and operational related activity across the Global Custody Product.  All roles within the group are client facing with a requirement for operational subject matter expertise across Trades, Asset Services, FX and Cash. The role will consist of regular contact with both external and internal counterparts utilising both communication and technical knowledge skill sets. Core custody relationships are maintained and improved via regular service reviews in partnership with the Client Service teams. 

Key Responsibilities  
  • On a daily basis act as a subject matter expert for Asset Servicing and demonstrate market experience and knowledge
  • On a daily basis act as a single point of contact for external clients, ensure timely and accurate response to all client corporate action related issues and events.
  • Ensure clear communication between sub custodians, agents, brokers, counterparties, internal operational teams and clients within prescribed timeframes.
  • Ensure all daily functions supporting the corporate actions exception workflow are completed to support meeting the agreed service levels.
  • Manage group email boxes and internal enquiry management tools to ensure queries are resolved and responded to within a timeframe and manner sensitive to the urgency of the event, and in accordance with prescribed service levels, thereby ensuring that internal and external client satisfaction is achieved.
  • Analyse invalid requests and identify trends to resolve reoccurring issues
  • Review current model and process efficiencies in order to drive change where appropriate
  • Work with Product, Network Management, Sub custodians and Vendors to resolve day-to-day issues identified through daily operations and enquiry management.
  • Effectively partner with operational, client and service teams to improve service levels and processes to establish J.P. Morgan as a premier service provider.
  • Manage your individual workload to ensure individual, team and departmental deadlines and objectives are met.
  • Investigate opportunities for self-development and improving knowledge of the business that you are servicing in order to improve skills and deliver maximum service levels.
  • Take full responsibility for adherence to all departmental procedures, policies, checkpoints and controls.
  • Provide effective team communication, in partnership with the team managers, through regular one-to-ones and team meetings providing information on changes impacting the team, including, but not limited to, market changes, functional moves and procedural / service changes.
  • In the event that a situation arises where you are unsure how to proceed then you should immediately escalate to your manager for support and guidance.
  • Escalation must occur when decision making authority for your role has been reached following departmental procedures, policies, check points and controls for a given situation or scenario. 
Key Skills/Experience Requirements:
  • Financial Services background essential within a Custody or Investment Bank environment.
  • Risk focused and execute control awareness
  • Exceptional organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to ask questions, challenge the process and seek out answers
  • Effective analytical skills with ability to aggregate data, identify root causes and help drive process changes
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure with commitment to deliver to deadlines
  • Strong Presentation, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload between immediate and short term initiatives against long term projects
  • Quickly grasp and master new requirements and related knowledge
  • Ability to partner with a wide variety of diverse groups, both internally and externally
  • Subject matter expertise with technical knowledge across the custody product with a primary focus on Asset Services.
  • Track record of working in a changing environment with the experience of learning, documenting and implementing new processes efficiently.
  • Must have good knowledge of Microsoft Office skills: Excel, Word and Access PowerPoint.
  • Relevant degree education preferred, however, non-degree candidates with a proven track record in a similar role will be considered.
  • Financial Services background would be preferred, ideally within a Custody or Investment Bank environment.
