Performance Development
As the firm continues to we innovate products and services to help our clients succeed, we are also innovating how we manage performance to help our employees excel. Last year, the firm announced a new approach to Performance Development that reinforces what great managers and teams already do – bring out the best in their people by aligning on Priorities, checking in often, providing real time feedback and coaching year-round. A group of early adopters transitioned to the new approach last year, and the rest of the firm is transitioning this year.

It’s a big change for most of the firm – both philosophically and operationally. As a result, the Performance Development (PD) team has built an extensive change management strategy that focuses on upskilling employees, encouraging all to think and do things differently when it comes to Performance Development, and ensuring the operational elements of the new approach roll out smoothly and successfully. Throughout 2018 we’ll be implementing a range of stakeholder engagement, communication and learning activities, and we’ll continue our ongoing review/analysis of feedback and metrics.
The Learning Design Lead is a key member of the Performance Development Center of Excellence which is responsible for creating the strategy, resources and systems to support adoption of JPMorgan Chase’s new approach to Performance Development and evolution to a culture of feedback.  The Lead sits within the Learning and Integration Team which is responsible for skill building required to support this change.  This role partners heavily with the Communications Lead to ensure connection and integration of messaging and content. 
In this position, you will lead the design, development and delivery of multi-media based learning solutions supporting employees, managers and HR teams.  Specific responsibilities include:
  • Develop robust strategy and associated learning solutions to support awareness, behavioral change and skills development across leaders, managers and employees across all levels/ LOBs
  • Assess current state/needs per LOB and stakeholder group and determine solutions that resonate and can be further adopted to fit within existing frameworks /ways of doing things
  • Research market trends  to influence strategy design on innovative tools, solutions and processes
  • Lead/produce training and resources (tools/tip sheets etc) that can be delivered via multiple channels (e.g., facilitated session/discussion, interactive self-directed on-line learning, stand-alone content web/print content) 
  • Consult with key partners across LOBs to assist in developing local strategies to support skill building and behavior change in ways that resonate with the unique needs of that LOB
  • Manage the inventory of collateral/content and maintenance across intranet sites to ensure content is easily accessible by stakeholders at the point of need
  • Partner with related COEs (Centers of Excellence) across the organization to identify integration points and adapt/design content/processes/ approaches to ensure simple and effective connection for maximum impact
We are looking for a seasoned HR/training and development professional with experience in a large, multi-region/global organization including a demonstrated ability to personally lead creation of learning solutions with demonstrated impact. 
  • Minimum 7 years of HR/training and development experience
  • The candidate must bring a global view, understand change management strategy and be digitally oriented to design solutions to be delivered through multiple channels
  • Strong experience in creating best-in-class, innovative learning solutions (e.g. training, tools, resources, reinforcement methods) aimed at supporting large-scale change/business transformation projects (system, process and behavior/culture change)
  • Experience in multi-channel content delivery (e.g. print, web, in-person, digital/e-learning etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop content and design solutions that work at scale, across multiple stakeholder and levels, with different cultures, and preferred ways of  learning
  • Bachelor's degree a must
  • Masters degree in Organizational Psychology, HR or related field a plus
  • Working knowledge of performance and talent management practices
Technical Skills
  • Recognized as a creative thought leader in bringing in new ideas and presenting them in graphically rich, simple and compelling ways
  • Well versed in measurement methodologies to assess effectiveness of design solutions
  • Passion to understand best practices, workforce trends and changes across industries and best-in-class companies; and determine what and how to incorporate into solutions
  • Superior PC skills with demonstrated excellence in Powerpoint and Word.  Intermediate knowledge of Excel.  Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator experience a plus
Interpersonal Leadership Skills
  • Demonstrated success at  driving stakeholders with multiple (sometimes competing) points of view  to common solutions
  • Ability to work collaboratively and develop strong working partnerships across teams/HR groups; ability to navigate, influence and flex
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to present to varying levels of management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead ad-hoc teams and manage to outcomes by influencing and managing to deadlines without direct authority
Analytical Skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess situations using both qualitative and quantitative factors
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques in a highly complex environment
  • Identify problems as opportunities and to manage well under pressure and are able to deal  with ambiguity, with a bias toward simplicity and action
    Project Management Skills
  • Manage multiple projects, complex activities, and competing deadlines in a matrix management structure
  • strong project management and organization skills with excellent attention to detail
