Position Description:

The Trusts and Estates (T&E) Tax practice within Wealth Management has been outsourced to an external tax  vendor.  This position will require a close working relationship with the Team Leader (TL) for T&E Tax, including contact with internal and external stakeholders. This individual will report directly to the T&E Tax TL.  The T&E Tax Officer’s primary responsibilities will include providing a strong working knowledge of tax technical matters for our client base  to ensure compliance with Federal and State filing requirements.   The T&E Tax Officer's role will include review of fiduciary income tax returns prepared by our external tax vendor(s),  compliance with JPMorgan's policies and procedures regarding sworn documents, analysis of transactional data for tax reporting purposes, and assistance with tax-related projects. This role will involve frequent interaction with senior management,  JPMorgan's external tax preparation vendor(s) and front office advisors (e.g., Trust Officers, Bankers, Investors, etc.) in a fast-paced team environment, as well as accountability for broader projects. 



  • Review trust, estate, and charitable entity income tax returns prepared by JPMorgan's external tax vendor(s)
  • Assist in oversight and compliance with JPMorgan's sworn document review procedures
  • Assist JPMorgan Trusts and Estates Officers with tax related inquiries
  • Partner with TL, Tax Counsel and other T&E Tax Team members to develop and implement quality and compliance metrics
  • Align group goals and objectives with firm priorities and initiatives
  • Offer creative solutions as issues arise and act as a partner on key business decisions
  • Trouble shoot for problem solving and definition around tax filing positions – to be able to answer the question “what should we be doing?”
  • Enable management by providing timely, accurate information on tax matters
  • Research, communicate  and resolve key issues and risks and answer questions from Trust Officers, Bankers and other Advisors


  • College degree; CPA or Enrolled Agent Preferred; JD or MBA a plus

  • 5+ years of relevant experience required; Prior employment with a national accounting firm a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Team player with excellent organizational, multitasking and prioritizing skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skill

  • Familiarity with OneSource Tax Software and Omni Platform a plus

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint

  • Specific industry related experience preferred
