The role of the HR Generalist is to help drive the HR strategy and provide generalist support across the Home Lending organization.  The individual will partner with various areas of the organization to execute on a variety of HR activities including talent and performance management, compensation and promotions, recruiting learning and development, employee relations and diversity initiatives.  The individual in this role will be a trusted advisor to various functions within Home Lending, through partnering with HR specialist functions to deliver the best solutions to our clients. In addition, to the advisor role, responsibilities will include managing and analyzing people related data as well as various HR projects to support the overall Home Lending function. 
 This role requires a strong focus on the firm’s culture and values, a risk and control mindset with the ability to apply sound and independent judgment to HR issues.  This is an exciting role that offers the opportunity to contribute to the development and execution of the broader Home Lending people agenda.  The successful candidate will have a track record in working well under pressure in fast-paced environments with an excellent level of attention to detail in every aspect of their work.      
In this role, you will
  • Partner closely with the HR community in recruiting, development, employee relations and compensation.
  • Drive the comprehensive talent agenda including succession planning, hi-potential and leadership development embedding diversity as a key priority.
  • Partner with business leaders to ensure the appropriate programs are in place to drive employee engagement.
  • Create & drive programs to support retention strategies, career development and mobility across the teams and across the firm.
  • Ensure employees and managers receive the appropriate counseling, guidance and support on employee relations issues.
  • Establish and measure key people metrics, aligned with business goals and work with business to drive progress.  
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required because this position routinely interacts with employees at all levels of Home Lending & Auto Finance, CCB and JPMC.  Fast and reliable decision-making skills are critical in order to keep pace with the business and regulatory environments,  and JPMC priorities.  It is critical for you to understand when and how to escalate decisions or risks. Other key requirements include:   business acumen, understanding of how to work within structured decision-making constructs, ability to identify key stake holders, assessing change management requirements and employee impact, and knowing when to challenge topics, issues and decisions.

  10. Maintains Control Environment: Establishes and maintains a proper control environment whereby policies, procedures and processes are understood by all associates and are consistently followed.  Ensures that appropriate documentation is accurate and in place to enable a clear and auditable trail for all factual information.  Holds subordinates accountable for compliance within a controlled environment. 
  11. Workforce Planning: Ability to plan for changes in the deployment of staffing resources and/or required capacity in accordance with changes to current and expected workload demands.
  12. Executive Level Presenting and Reporting 
  • 6+ years of generalist or other HR experience, preferably at a financial services firm
  • Excellent communication skills with a consultative approach in client facing situations
  • Strong analytical skills with a high proficiency in managing data and the ability to analyze/"tell the story"
  • Knowledge of human resources policies, processes, principles, concepts and methodology
  • A strong sense of urgency and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • The ability to build solid relationships and work well in a team environment
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other HR systems
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Human Resources and/or Financial Services experience preferred
