Tax Oriented Investments’ (TOI) mission is to invest the Bank’s capital in earning assets that are tax-advantaged.  Current TOI assets include affordable housing investments, alternative energy projects, and equipment leases.  The TOI group employs over 100 professionals, is based in Chicago, and is part of the Corporate & Investment Bank.
 
The Portfolio Management Group supports the Energy and Housing product areas within TOI, and the candidate will be primarily focused on the Energy product.  He/She will work with a team of nine employees that are responsible for maintaining complex pricing files for each transaction and incorporating new data relative to accounting, taxes, operations, and cash flow into the valuation models.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Become proficient in the intricacies of the transaction pricing files and understand deal structures and risks
  • Analyze partnership financial statements, tax returns, monthly operating reports and budgets
  • Incorporate financial results on a quarterly basis and perform sensitivities for assigned transactions
  • Work closely with TOI origination groups and asset management staff in understanding deal specific dynamics
  • Work directly with outside clients (sponsors) on a regular basis to solve issues related to assigned transactions
  • Work with TOI origination and technology groups to implement new functionality to existing pricing files and systems
  • Provide support and analysis related to asset workouts, dispositions, and other ad hoc requests
  • Develop an understanding of the financial impact on assigned transactions and be able to explain to management

 

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
  • At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience; tax experience a plus
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Ability to interact with a variety of colleagues and customers
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
