Global Services Operations (GSO) is responsible for service support and delivery for JPMorgan Chase's Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) organization. Through its Global Service Desk and Infrastructure Operations Centers, GSO provides global, coordinated diagnostic and support services, while it's Production Assurance and Support functions leverage and execute industry-leading infrastructure management and support processes that are designed to minimize customer outages and impacts.
The Global Network Operations Centre (GNOC) is responsible for Tier-2 support for the Global data and voice networks, spanning 50 countries with over 1 million data network ports, 35,000+ network devices.  The GNOC engineer will work in a team environment performing break/fix troubleshooting support.  The GNOC engineer will also support service through SRE methodology and software development operations. The role is technical and requires experience in network and software development.  The applicant must have or be willing to learn Python language for scripting and automation development to assist with continuous service improvements.
  • Identify potential automation opportunities for greater efficiency in operation support
  • Assist in the development of scripts and dashboards to improve operational efficiencies
  • Work with developers to help automate network infrastructure support
  • Create event tickets affecting the Core network and work within an accelerated SLA time for repair.
  • Perform 24x7 monitoring of the JPMC network infrastructure. Provide some Tier 1 network support but primarily Tier 2 network support.
  • Work with vendors to troubleshoot issues and coordinate dispatches. Must be able to independently guide a vendor through hands-on troubleshooting over the phone.
  • Partners with Vendors for escalations and improved incident resolution MTTR
  • Independently make timely calls to customer to ensure they are informed of the status and expected resolution of the issue.
  • Utilize tools such as Smarts, Sniffers, NetCool, NASH, Concord, SevOne, and Splunk for improved network support.
  • Perform appropriate escalations as needed to Management, SMEs and Tier 3 Network team.
  • Support post incident restoral work through approved change windows.
  • Work closely with the Operate teams to drive and coordinate a planned repair/restore and provide email status of the work.
  • Perform a daily set of scripted reach-ability checks and tests across the network globally
  • Interface with Line of Business Command Centers for swift actions on critical issues, with a goal of minimizing impact and reduced MTTR.
  • Technical Degree with 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP certification or equivalent experience required
  • Ability to use (or learn) scripting languages such as Python, or other object oriented language like Ansible, C++, Java, etc.
  • Ability to design, code, testing and debugging skills.
  • Experience working in a Linux environment.
  • Experience working in a banking, exchange or technology type environment within a global organization
  • Expertise of networking fundamentals including: network topology, VLANs, routing, global/local load balancing, firewalls, etc
  • Strong experience in Protocol Analyzers (Endace, Apcon, Wireshark, OpNet)
  • Strong experience in capacity management tools (Concord, SevOne)
  • Strong experience in prioritization, process and problem analysis
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal
  • Strong work ethic in a mission-critical 24x7 diverse environment with multiple vendor/customer relationships
  • Must be flexible, hands on and able to work in a fast paced, high pressure, client-focused and collaborative environment
  • Manage problems and follow up on incidents and write incident reports
  • Experience managing various large-scale enterprise network topologies including Load Balancers, DNS, Market Data, and Internet preferred.
  • Experience managing large-scale enterprise network topologies within an operations environment preferred.
