J.P. Morgan Bank Luxembourg (JPMBL) will become the primary entity used to provide private banking services to ultra-high net worth individuals in the EMEA region, ex-Suisse.  JPMBL is a Luxembourg bank and is regulated by the ECB and CSSF; it operates today out of its Luxembourg head office.  In future it will have branches in Brussels, Frankfurt, Madrid, Milan, and the U.K.
The Role
  • Serve as Wealth Management (WM) executive for JPMBL and its branches
  • Serve as a JPMBL Authorised Manager (subject to regulatory approval) in accordance with local regulations and corporate governance.
  • The position reports functionally to the EMEA Head of Wealth Management and locally to the Chief Executive Officer of JPMBL.
  • Accountable for WM’s liaison with the Board of Directors, Regulators, and the Local Community.
    • Member of the JPMBL Management Committee Chair of the WM ex-Suisse Management Committee overseeing Wealth Management ex-Suisse.
    • Act as WM’s primary interface with regulators.
    • Ensure the implementation and compliance with internal policies and procedures.
    • Ensure that WM act as a responsible member of the local community by supporting diversity, philanthropic and community outreach.
  • Demonstrate the Key Leadership Principles for a strong culture reinforcing the JPM Business Principals
    • Foster a positive environment and culture and play a visible role in community and support the local people, diversity, philanthropy & wellness agendas as required
Business Leadership
  • In conjunction with the CEO and Management Committee set and implement the strategic vision for the business supported by a 3-5 year roadmap.
  • Manage the balance sheet and profitability targets for Wealth Management in JPMBL.
  • Oversee the Lending policies and exception handling of loans in the Luxembourg (& other) branches.
  • Define and manage the regulatory agenda for JPMBL Wealth Management.
  • Actively participate in significant new business opportunities by partnering with advisors & product teams.
Functional Management
  • Run regular end to end governance for the business bringing together all functional partners.
  • Provide local oversight to Business Control Officer and first and second lines of defence to ensure compliance with and execution of the regulatory agenda.
  • Manage and provide leadership to a direct team of WM professionals
  • Represent WM at regional governance forums in partnership with control partners and provide an escalation route.
  • Provide guidance and decision making across the business on risks and issues.
  • Promptly and effectively implement corrective measures to address any weaknesses identified through the internal control functions.

With the assistance of the COO , ensure that WM has necessary management information, technical infrastructure, and human resources to support decision-making and control mechanisms to ensure sound and prudent operation of the business.

JPMBL Entity Responsibilities
  • Serve on  the Management Committee of JPMBL.
  • Act as Wealth Management Authorized Manager for the entity.
  • Provide thought leadership in the building of JPMBL’s external communication, staffing requirements and control framework.
  • Partner with the CEO to maintain a positive relationship with regulators and industry associations.
  • Possess the necessary professional competencies (expertise, understanding and experience), professional standing and personal qualities to manage the legal entity and effectively determine the business direction.
  • Proven track record of managing a complex business across multiple geographic sites.
  • Proven experience in chairing governance forums at line of business level.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the WM businesses and client segments.
  • Strong network of contacts within J.P. Morgan.
  • Experience in managing and influencing partners to deliver the desired results for the business.
  • Strong organisational, project sponsor and planning skills.
  • Proven understanding of the commercial and risk aspects of the business.
