The team
Pyramid is a strategic platform for processing and risk managing derivatives in the Investment Bank.  It is used by Credit Hybrids, Equity Derivatives and Interest Rate Hybrids businesses globally.  The trade processing suite is responsible for trade capture, event & position management, and feeds to downstream systems such as accounting and legal documentation.  Products range from high volume listed products to highly complex over-the-counter structured derivatives.
Pyramid Evolution aims at transforming the Pyramid platform with a heavy focus on Front Office applications. Pyramid Evolution is leveraging the latest technologies and architectures, using at its core Java 8, C#, a NoSQL database and modern messaging technologies to build a scalable system based on micro-services.
The role
Hands on java expert to contribute to the reengineering of the platform. You will part of a talented team, which delivers to the business using the latest technologies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work with subject matter experts to ensure that the solution meets business needs.
  • Develop java services integrated in the end to end processing of the derivative products.
  • Design and code a significant amount of a robust, secure and efficient API to persist / retrieve data and implement business logic
We are looking for a highly talented and driven technologist who has a track record of delivering outstanding solutions in an investment bank or other fast-paced industry where first class solutions with 5 9’s uptime are the norm.
Essential skills
  • Typically 5-10 years hands-on experience and recognized expert on Java. The candidate must be able to answer the toughest questions on these languages.
  • Deep understanding of the mechanisms behind large-scale distributed systems, including low-level considerations.
  • Very pro-active , delivery focus , strong experience on Agile programming
  • Good knowledge of one or several scripting languages (Python, Groovy, .etc.)
  • Strong OO design skills with in-depth knowledge of object modelling and design patterns.
  • Computer science background with an intellectual rigour
  • Relational database experience; ideally Sybase/SQL.
  • Experience of messaging e.g. AMQ, Tibco .etc.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and a proven track record of high performance and delivery
  • Understanding of derivatives products.
  • Strong communication and team-working skills
    Desirable skills
  • Experience of working in financial services, in a front-office environment.
  • Knowledge of C#.
  • Exposure to NoSQL systems (Cassandra, MongoDB .etc.)
  • Agile development techniques
    To degree level, ideally in a computer science, mathematical or engineering discipline.
