QA Engineer – Digital Microservices

CCB is advancing towards a transformation where high velocity software engineering of business capabilities is paramount.   This strategy is being driven by the increasing use of digital platforms on the part of our customers as they bank with us and the evolution of financial products and services and their potential integration Into digital banking ecosystems.

As a QA Engineer you will be part of an agile scrum team focused on delivering microservices in support of this broader strategy.    The day to day activities of the role will encompass the full project lifecycle, including:
  • Creating Automated Unit Tests using Flexible/Open Source Frameworks
  • Digesting Business Requirements in partnership with SMEs
  • Ability to understand business processes and map them to solutions
  • Working with global team of developers; operational business SMEs and users
Key Qualities:     
  • Demonstrates knowledge of multiple complex applications and provides subject matter expertise to set direction and create test strategies and test plans for more than one project and/or application  
  • Identifies and implements areas for improving efficiency, shortening of test cycles, and automation of test scripts.  
  • Communicating effectively with business units, IT Development, Project Management and other support staff.  
  • Accountable for the development of test project plans, test schedule, test plans, and detailed test cases as defined by Digital Project Lifecycle  
  • Leads and participates in review sessions of business requirements, technical requirements, and design documents to ensure that software changes are understood to facilitate testing.  
  • Responsible for broad-scope of decision-making.  Day to day decisions are made without supervision or review.  
  • Assess risk to project based on results of execution and validation.  Makes appropriate recommendation based on risks identified.  
  • Sponsors initiatives designed to support continual QA process improvements, and the integration of the QA process with other development activities.  
  • Initiates and completes root cause analysis, testing lessons learned, recommends future process improvements and defect prevention.  
  • BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five plus years of experience with the following:
    • System software testing
    • Planning and coordinating test activities
    • Overseeing test case development and defect resolution
    • Atlassian Confluence and JIRA tools
  • Deep knowledge of the Application Development Lifecycle and concepts. 
  • Proven experience in all aspects of functional, integration and regression testing
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and excellent analytical skills
  • Independent decision-making and good judgment
  • Strong time management, interpersonal and people skills
  • Ability to operate comfortably in a multi-task / multi priority environment across a global team
Experience in the following technical areas is a plus:
  • Exposure to development or test automation tools/frameworks (e.g. Cucumber/Gherkin, Selenium Grid, Junit, Jenkins, CA-Lisa,  Maven, JIRA, etc.
  • Development or test automation tools framework (i.e, Cucumber, Selenium)
  • Test script design in Gherkin format
  • Exposure to web technologies (e.g. HTTP, XML, REST, HTML, etc.)
