Commercial Banking (CB) serves more than 30,000 clients, including corporations, municipalities, financial institutions, and not-for-profit entities with annual revenues generally ranging from $20 million to $2 billion. The Firm's broad platform positions the Commercial Bank to deliver extensive product capabilities - lending, treasury services, investment banking, and asset management - to meet our clients' domestic and international financial needs.


Wholesale Lending Services (WLS) exists within Commercial Banking and provides loan servicing functions to all four JPMorgan lines of business.  These functions include loan documentation, closing and funding, payment and fee processing, syndication loan and trade processing, credit administration and collateral perfection and management.  This role resides within Integration Management and is responsible for the execution & governance of projects in support of key WLS functional areas.  This role collaborates with operations teams within WLS, as well as working closely with LOB and functional partners to execute the project agenda.


One of the top priorities across the Chief Administrative Office (CAO) at JPMorgan Chase is to help the firm move toward a more integrated data management strategy.  Our businesses and corporate groups rely on data to facilitate and execute transactions, support our clients, identify potential risks, and meet regulatory requirements. The Wholesale Lending Data Steward will report directly to the Data Domain (Program) Manager within Wholesale Lending Services.  The Data Steward will act as guardian and decision maker for specific Wholesale Lending critical data elements and will also be accountable for executing on the 2017 agenda to drive adoption of the data elements back into the Loan Applications.  The Data Steward will have responsibility for performing gap analysis between data element definition and current operation processes, and will work with operations SME’s to document operating model and technology changes required to conform WLS data to new definitional requirements. 


Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for understanding metadata, usage, standards and quality for specific data; this role requires extensive interaction with finance, risk, lines of business and data governance/operations organizations 
  • Engage with assigned areas within the business operations to develop knowledge and subject matter expertise of the business processes, systems of record and authoritative sources and their usage. 
  • Review and/or define specific data element business definition values in partnership with the business process owners and assigned Data Solution Architects to ensure proper business context and impact are understood   
  • Review and /or document data quality issues and prioritize them in partnership with the Data Quality team to ensure that issues are resolved within agreed timeframes.  .
  • Manage a program of Adoption projects interfacing with Regulatory(CCAR), Data Sourcing (FRW), Data Consumption (FRI,LRI, IRR, CRI) and Operations (WLS) teams;  Perform detailed analyses of data element definitions versus current operational process to identify and document gaps
  • Implement op model and/or technology proposals to conform data to approved definitions; identify, quantify, and oversee data remediation as required to improve WLS data
  • Work closely with downstream and regulatory consumers of WLS data to progress data changes through impact analysis review and implementation
  • Partner with WLS Risk & Controls to ensure all op model changes are steered through Change Control
  • Craft and execute detailed training, implementation, and remediation plans to ensure smooth rollout with WLS
  • Key point of contact to WLS Senior Management, Firmwide Data Management program, and project stakeholders to advise of status, progress, risk, and issues
  • This role may develop into a people management opportunity as program progresses

  • BA/BS degree required
  • A minimum of 7 years in the financial services market, preferably across loan operations and/or loan technology required
  • Advanced leadership skills with an emphasis on influencing others
  • Proven ability to formulate innovative ideas and gain buy-in from senior management in addition to a track record of strong project execution/leadership in a challenging environment
  • Strong knowledge of business operational processes, data and technology platforms
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Proven ability to deliver executive-level reporting (project status, risks, issues, change controls, action items)
  • Capable of leading a cross functional team through a complex project
  • Proven ability to be flexible, follow tight deadlines, organize and prioritize work
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Project or Program Management experience, preferred
