Role Description
This position will report to the JP Morgan Firmwide Data Management Data Use Governance Lead and will focus on delivering a firm-wide strategy on data use for establishing a standard governance and operating model. The immediate focus for this candidate will be to ensure that the function is capturing and identifying the appropriate data use concerns within the firm and to develop a long term tool strategy for data use management.
This role involves substantial cross business interaction and a process mind set.
 
 
Responsibilities
 
  • This role will be responsible for ensuring firm-wide systemic incorporation of Data Use Principles through augmentation of existing processing, policies, standards and forums. This will require designing and implementing new processes, tools, technologies and governance structures
  • Assist with creating a strategic road map for Data Use and develop specific firm-wide requirements to augment processes, tools and technology
  • Improve the process to gather firm-wide inventory of use cases. This will require identifying gaps in the current process and developing solutions to close the gaps
  • Improve existing metrics and reporting frameworks to monitor progress and escalate road blocks
  • In partnership with LOB project managers, own project plans and progress; collect, consolidate and review status and related reporting in an accurate, timely and comprehensive fashion
  • Manage issue escalation, triage and communications / documentation process for programs with significant complexity and risk across business and corporate functions
  • Assist with the management of the Data Use Executive Committee including, meeting calendar, materials and LOB and Corporate Function syndication
  • Assist with content creation for regular senior management updates.  Support detailed documentation of key decisions and follow ups from the meetings and conduct follow up with action item owners
  • Manage production of key Executive management updates
  • Assist with the development of the long term platform to manage data use and work with the Technology and Architecture teams to design, develop and test the platform


  •  BA/BS, with 10+ years or related work experience including minimum of 5 years of strategic project management experience with a demonstrated appreciation for disciplined team and project management  
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with senior management and other stakeholders to create and manage operational policies and processes that support the goals of the business
  • Experience in leading process change, problem and incident management processes
  • Prior experience in financial services industry preferred
  • Prior experience with big data, data management is a plus
  • Prior experience in program management required; consulting or strategy background a plus
  • Working knowledge of risk, compliance, audit and operational management concepts, with the ability to manage the impact of policy and procedural changes and identify and address potential problems
  • Strong executive presence, comfortable interacting with and presenting to all levels of management
  • Demonstrated strong ability to analyze problems, communicate effectively and confidently (both verbal and written), and demonstrated influencing skills to work in cross-functional teams
  • Strong influencing and partnership / collaboration skills
  • A track record demonstrating a high level of personal initiative, strong work ethic, proactively setting and achieving challenging goals, ability to work independently, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, flexible / adaptable to changing environment and demonstrating entrepreneurial leadership
  • Openness to an environment of active developmental feedback from peers and managers; eagerness to work in a fast-paced, results-driven, highly dynamic environment
  • Excellent skills using MS Excel, PowerPoint, MS Visio, MS Project and SharePoint
  • Ability to productively work in a matrix management organization
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude and inspiring leadership skills a must
  • Comfortable with leading change management
  • Strong execution focus and attention to detail
