Roles description:
 
The core role will be supporting the EMEA M&A Investment Banking business in the following capacity:
 
  •  A trusted advisor to the co-heads of EMEA M&A Investment Banking in all aspects of the business, including strategy, controls, people and financial performance
  • Drive communication of the business strategy, performance and priorities
  • Key point of contact for front office and support functions to help identify, facilitate and achieve business objectives and opportunities
  •  Proactively and on request provide strategic analysis and reporting to facilitate business progression
  • Ensure the business is aligned with key control and support functions (such as Legal, Compliance, Operations, Human Resources, Audit, Technology, etc.)
  • Help manage business risk by ensuring an effective control environment
  • Ensure the business is in compliance with line of business and corporate-wide objectives and policies
  • Work closely with IB coverage business management team to facilitate development and execution of synergies between the coverage and M&A strategy, opportunities and client relationships
  • Build effective relationships and work closely with F&BM colleagues (Planning & Analysis, Finance Controllers, Industry/Product business managers, Office Management)

 

Summary of Core Responsibilities: 
 
  • Oversight of monthly performance reporting for the EMEA M&A business, including Revenue, Expenses, SVA and market data analysis
  • Preparation of periodic and ad hoc business performance presentations/reviews
  • Maintenance of the deal pipeline, including forecasting exercises and reporting
  • Coordinate with Global M&A Business Management and M&A business managers in other regions on deal pipeline, forecast and M&A initiatives and priorities
  • Work with the business to ensure all eligible deals are submitted and appropriately credited in external market data league tables
  • Provide feedback to league table providers on their models and ensure the league tables are representative of relative market performance
  • Management of client coverage lists and client reference data across all systems
  • Provide assistance to front office with the client on-boarding processes (i.e. Sponsorship, KYC)
  • Key point of contact for ensuring business adherence to end-to-end deal life-cycle controls
  • Work with the Senior Business Manager to organise client and business events
  • Events tracking and budget oversight. T&E expense review and exception approval
  • Headcount analysis and reporting
  • Partner with Technology to support bankers in best practice usage of iBanker, iMeet, iMemo, Intensity and Dealworks
  • Manage junior resources as part of the IBC/M&A Business management teams
  • Contribute to the EMEA/Global F&BM agenda (priorities, projects, events)
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
  • Understanding of Investment Banking products, systems and processes
  • In depth knowledge of M&A market drivers, themes and activities
  • Strong organisational, project and time management skills; demonstrate flexibility and the ability to dynamically prioritise requests and multi-task in the face of ever-changing and sometimes conflicting demands
  • Enthusiastic, self motivated and effective under pressure
  • Strong analytical and numeric skills, understanding of financial statements, excellent attention to detail. Able to analyse large data sets and present conclusions concisely
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships and influence others, across multiple disciplines and across levels of seniority
  • Ability to work well individually and partner effectively within a team
  • Pro-active and problem solving mind-set with ability to identify, clearly present and implement solutions
  • A thorough understanding and appreciation of risks and controls
  • Disciplined approach to managing processes and controls with a view to continuous improvement
