J.P. Morgan's Investment Bankers help clients solve problems and seize opportunities - whether by raising capital or by shaping their corporate strategy and structure.  This position is in JPMorgan's Corporate Finance Advisory (CFA) group.


Corporate Finance Advisory (CFA) - The group is comprised of experts in corporate finance, M&A, tax, accounting, structured products and derivatives. The group sits in between the client coverage bankers and the product partners (Capital Markets, Derivatives etc) and gets pulled in to discussions or transactions where the client is looking to solve an issue that is new or unusual. These situations typically require coordinating between different product areas/ areas of expertise to come up with a solution. The group also is involved on a daily basis in corporate finance discussions with clients, e.g. optimal capital structure, optimal asset-liability management, shareholder distribution policy etc and occasionally publishes reports on these topics for the benefit of our clients.  The group reflects a variety of different skill sets at all levels including an ex-chair of finance dept at a large university, an ex- head of treasury at a blue chip company, tax lawyers, former in-house risk management professionals, programmers, etc.

As an Analyst, you work with top-tier professionals at the heart of a leading global investment bank. Senior bankers know you - both as a person and as a valued member of a winning team. In relatively little time, you interact with clients, travel for the firm, and handle increasingly important responsibilities.


As an Investment Banking Analyst, your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Performing financial analysis using industry standard and proprietary models
  • Assessing the rating implications of a wide range of transformational transactions and associated capital structures
  • Building financial models to address new problems
  • Preparing presentation materials and participating in deal pitches
  • Extrapolating rating views to make broader financing and capital structure recommendations
  • Guiding clients through the ratings process, including attendance at agency meetings
  • Conducting industry and product research
  • Learning and interacting with J.P. Morgan's clients, products, services, and business practices
  • Executing client transactions from start to closing


  • The work in Investment Banking is fast-paced, demanding, and intellectually stimulating and requires individuals who thrive in that type of environment.
  • We look for candidates with strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.
  • You should also be adaptable, able to manage projects independently and ready to assume a high level of responsibility as a productive member of a team.
  • Undergraduate degree in the sciences, engineering, or finance is strongly preferred. Graduate degree in similar fields will be a plus.
  • Existing experience in investment banking, capital markets or sales & trading is a plus.
