VCG Securitized Products Group (SPG) is looking for a talented individual to join its NA structure to take a leadership position within the team, currently comprised of two Senior Analysts and two Associates.


Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent group within Finance whose primary responsibility is to ensure that the firm's risk portfolios are fairly valued.  The group sets independent pricing and reserve policies.  VCG highlight concentrations in risk or uncertainties in parameter inputs and work with the trading and quantitative groups to fully understand their implications from a risk/return perspective and the impact on the desk's level of reserving. In addition, VCG is responsible for the review of approximately loaded trades, high level risk / P&L analysis, approval of new products, and model releases.


VCG SPG works closely with its clients who include senior management, business heads, regulators, and both internal and external audit.  The group also works closely with the Traders, CFOs, Market Risk, and Middle Office to ensure a complete understanding of business issues and the accurate execution of valuation policy.

Job Description:

The role will sit within valuation control function for the SPG business.  Agency and Non Agency RMBS, ABS and Residential Whole Loans will form a core part of the mandate.  The illiquid nature of the certain asset classes under mandate requires a high level of in-depth analysis, which will give the opportunity to apply a strong knowledge of the North American securitization market.

  • Full ownership of VCG infrastructure to ensure accurate and efficient production
  • Detailed review of new trade activity in order to enhance the valuation process.  To include the assessment of large or concentrated transactions as well as new dimensions of valuation risk
  • Provide business advisory on valuation issues related to large concentrations, revenue on new deals/complex transactions
  • Comprehensive review of illiquid positions in order to make a conclusion around valuation
  • Delivery of a best in class control framework in order to ensure VCG satisfies its core mandate of ensuring accurate valuation of the firm’s risk portfolios
  • Ownership of the relationship between North America SPG VCG and all other stakeholders in the firm
  • Responsibility for both the delivery and professional development of a team of valuation experts

  • 5-10 years of experience in the financial sector
  • Deep knowledge of ABS, RMBS, CMBS and/or real-estate investments.  Candidate should have understanding of the valuation processes and techniques for securitized products (e.g. how to differentiate securitization structures, pricing components, mechanics of a payment waterfall )
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.  Ability to explain complex concepts  and influence/debate on behalf of VCG to the group’s stakeholders
  • Trading experience or experience working with traders a significant plus
  • Analytical and quantitative aptitude. Candidates with quantitative backgrounds preferred
  • CFA designation (or similar qualifications) a plus
  • Propensity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently
  • Knowledge of INTEX Desktop and/or Bloomberg  as well as Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
