The Risk Management Policy Group (RMPG) is a firmwide corporate function reporting to the Firmwide Risk Executive for Risk Management Policy who in turn reports to the firm's Chief Risk Officer.  RMPG provides governance over firmwide, line of business (LOB), and legal entity (LE) Risk Management policies. The group works closely with others in Risk Management to manage the policy life cycle, e.g., drafting, revisions, approval, and publishing.
RMPG policy managers:
  • provide guidance on Risk Management policy
  • manage the administration of the Risk Management policy library
  • monitor and report on policy actions
  • execute on risk management and firmwide policy initiatives
Risk Policy VP
Risk management policies form part of the firm’s response to new regulations and guidance impacting specific businesses, initiatives or regulatory registrations.  As such, policy management is an area of increasing importance in the firm and in the industry. 

The Risk Policy Manager role entails managing the end to end policy management cycle for a portfolio of Risk Management policies
and supporting documents. This includes interacting with and providing advice to document owners and their designees to ensure that documents are updated and current, and conform to firmwide standards. The Policy Manager is also responsible for validating that LOB and LE specific policies are not in conflict with firmwide policies and that changes to policies are properly syndicated and approved.

Job Description:
  • Manage a portfolio of Firmwide / Cross LOB / LE Risk Management policies and supporting documents.  This includes oversight of policies related to firmwide risks such as Credit Risk, Market Risk, Country Risk, Reputation Risk, Structural Interest Rate Risk, Liquidity Risk
    • Build upon the ongoing work to evolve these policies into the risk management policy standard
    • Drive annual reviews; facilitate off-cycle revisions, contribute to policy related working groups
  • Contribute to RMPG initiatives related to policy communication, monthly bulletin, policy forums, comprehensive revisions, metric development, control committee reporting, eTraining and other firmwide policy initiatives
  • Identify opportunities and contribute to the continuous improvement of the RMPG operating model
Prior risk management or product aligned experience related to risk management. A Legal or Compliance background may be a good foundation for this role, with exposure to financial risk management or process governance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills / strong presentation skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to anticipate and properly balance the service aspect of the role with the control and governance aspects of policy management
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively across different businesses and functional areas in order to be an influential voice for Risk Management
  • Ability to identify important themes and distil messages down to critical items
  • Strong control mindset
  • Creative / strategic thinker that can leverage current framework into the evolving policy model
  • Good project management skills
  • Strong Word and good Excel/Power Point/Pitch Pro skills
  • Ability to learn the publishing application
