The Oversight and Control Group is a first line of defense function that supports Lines of Business and functions by managing the end-to-end control environment that is aligned to the risk profile and the regulatory requirements relevant to the LOB/function.
 
The Global Market Infrastructure (GMI) Group is responsible for selection and management of the network of agent banks used by the firm and the oversight of how the businesses engage with various Financial Market Infrastructures (FMI) such as clearing houses, CCPs, Securities Depositories and Payment Systems.  In this role, the group covers the purchasing and maintenance of securities services (custody and clearing) and cash services (payments and other foreign currency services) for LOBs firm-wide.  Currently the network spans over 700 agent banks and FMIs including sub-custodians, nostro account relationships, and cash agent/partner banks in over 100 markets.  The team works closely with these agents and regulatory authorities in each country to identify market practices, tax rules & strategies, and rules associated with foreign investment.  As a firm-wide function, GMI supports all LOBs including TS, IS, Markets and AM.  The group’s key strengths are in depth market knowledge, and strong project management.  The team provides a global focus for the firm in order to leverage buying power worldwide, developing in- and out-sourcing initiatives, and management of the associated risks.
 
Role Summary
The JPMorgan CIB Office of Legal Obligations ("OLO") team is responsible for the oversight and management of the CIB End-to-End Legal and Regulatory Process Program (“Program”).  This Program is sponsored at the operating committee level of JPMorgan Chase (“JPMC”).  The objective of the Program is to design and develop a global, firm-wide, risk-based process to evidence the Firm’s understanding of applicable laws, rules and regulations (“Legal Obligations”) and the policies, procedures and controls needed to comply with those Legal Obligations.  Each LOB or Function is responsible for ensuring that the LOB and function is fully engaged in this program.   In this role the candidate will be the GMI representative for the OLO program.
The role reports to the GMI control officer.
Key responsibilities include the following:
  • Support the development, organization and execution of the CIB OLO program for GMI
  • Work extensively with functional groups and business stakeholders to investigate, co-ordinate and collate the required supporting documentation.  The role will provide considerable exposure to both functional partners and the business
  • Mapping obligations to procedures or other supporting documentation.
  • Support program governance and administration, including production of weekly program status reports             
  •  Develop understanding of the role and GMI to become the subject matter expert on OLO process and tool related topics
  • Support mapping and review of GMI processes to regulatory requirements
  • Support / lead regulatory change management projects
 
  • Experience in supporting execution in large scale programs
  • Outstanding listening skills as well as being a strong written and verbal communicator
  • Strong organizational  skills
  • Team player with ability to build strong cross-business relationships at all levels – proven flexibility, adaptability and reliability
  • Detail oriented, with a highly disciplined approach to process and quality control.  Attention to detail is critical in this role
  • Professional, self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment with a proven track record of execution against deliverables
  • Previous experience in a regulatory role or a legal background would be advantageous
  • Experience of one or more Markets / CFS product areas and / or GMI would be desirable.
  • Strong Excel and Powerpoint skills
