 Department & Role Description
This role is a Business manager role at Vice President level supporting the activities and the growth agenda for the EMEA Corporates IB business, based in the London office. This role reports into the Executive Director Business Manager. This represents an excellent platform to work with a variety of teams across the CIB.
Role Description:
The core role will be supporting the EMEA Corporates IBC business in the following capacity:
  • As trusted advisor to the head of EMEA Corporates Investment Banking in all aspects of the business; strategy, controls, people and financial performance
  • Key point of contact for front office and support functions to help identify, facilitate and achieve business objectives and opportunities
  • Help communicate the business strategy, performance and priorities
  • Work closely with IB coverage business management team to facilitate development        and execution of synergies between the coverage and M&A strategy, opportunities and client relationships
  • Proactively and on request provide strategic analysis and reporting to facilitate business progression 
  • Ensure the business is aligned with key control and support functions (such as Legal, Compliance, Operations, HR, Audit, Technology, etc)
  • Help identify and manage business risk by ensuring an effective control environment
  • Ensure the business is in compliance with LOB and corporate-wide objectives and policies
  • Build effective relationships and work closely with F&BM colleagues (Planning & Analysis, Finance Controllers, Industry/Product business managers, Office Management, Expense Management) and non-F&BM colleagues (Legal, Compliance, Audit, HR, training, Technology)
Summary of Core Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of monthly performance reporting, incl. Revenue, Expenses, SVA and market data analysis
  • Preparation of periodic and ad hoc business performance presentations to analyse business strategy, client planning and business efficiency
  • Work with the Senior Business Manager and Business Heads to organise client and business events to further business strategy and relationship building
  • Tracking of all client and internal Events and maintenance of budget. T&E expense review and exception approval
  • Maintenance of the deal pipeline, incl. forecasting exercises and reporting
  • Management of client coverage lists and client reference data across all systems
  • Provide assistance to front office with the client on-boarding processes (i.e. Sponsorship, KYC)
  • Key POC for ensuring business adherence to end-to-end deal life-cycle controls
  • Headcount analysis and reporting
  • Partner with Technology to support bankers in best practice usage of iBanker, iMeet, iMemo, Intensity and Dealworks
  • Contribution to the EMEA/Global F&BM agenda (priorities, projects, events)
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
  • Understanding of Investment Banking and Capital Markets products, with an interest/commercial awareness of market conditions and macro risks impacting business
  • Strong organisational, project and time management skills;
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility, prioritisation of requests and multi-task in the face of ever-changing and sometimes conflicting demands
  • Enthusiastic, self motivated and effective under pressure
  • Strong analytical and numeric skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships and influence others, across multiple disciplines and across levels of seniority
  • Ability to work well individually and partner effectively within a team

  • A thorough understanding and appreciation of risks and controls
