The Business Planning and Analysis team is part of Consumer and Community Banking Operations and is responsible for developing an integrated planning and management process that supports the successful execution of CCB Operations business objectives.  The primary responsibilities of this team include volume / demand forecasting, capacity planning, workforce optimization, and business analysis/support.   The BP&A team is extending its support to Chase‚Äôs retail branches, beyond the traditional call center focus.  We are looking for those select few who thrive in a dynamic environment, have big ideas and goals, and believe in testing ideas rather than talking about them.  They are hands-on, without needing an army of engineers or other data scientists to support them, and love learning new skills along the way.
This position will assist in developing the analytical framework and infrastructure that drives decision making within the business.  This role leverages proven technical abilities in a quantitative field to design and automate data based solutions and algorithms that both improve the customer experience and impact the bottom line.  He or she can manipulate large and diverse datasets to extract meaningful business information solve real-world business problems.  This position also requires the communication skills necessary to synthesize complex analytical tasks into easily understood data-driven stories.  Other responsibilities include working collaboratively amongst other talented team members and across the broader organization.  A big part of the role is to be able to ask open-ended questions, explore new ideas, and choose appropriate techniques for solving a given problem.  We are looking for someone who can work with minimal supervision, is a self-starter, and demonstrates a willingness to learn new business processes, skills, and technologies as required.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the business through ad-hoc queries, data manipulation, and analysis
  • Designing data driven tools and models to bring logic and structure to sometimes loosely defined, unstructured problems and ideas
  • Improving the accuracy and efficiency of existing algorithms, models, and forecasts
  • Writing clean and concise code in either SQL or SAS to answer specific business questions
  • Assisting in executing existing analytical and reporting responsibilities
  • Taking complex results and communicating them in an easily understood way, focusing on how data analytics fits into the bigger picture
  • Persuading, informing, and influencing others based on findings through both verbal and written communication

Preferred qualifications:
  • Education: BS/MS in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Physics, Economics, Applied Math, Computer Science, or Operations Research
  • Data Analysis: Strong background in forecasting, statistics, modeling, and optimization as demonstrated by either industry experience or coursework/academic research
  • Data Collection & Manipulation: Experience leveraging Teradata, SQL Server, or comparable database systems to perform data analysis and manipulation on large datasets
  • Analytical Software: Experience designing solutions with analytical tools: SQL, SAS, R, or VBA
  • Intellectually Curious: Continuously seeking out opportunities to hone existing technical skills (e.g. writing SQL/code, statistics, machine learning, etc.) and learn new skills
  • Attention to Detail: A critical thinker who ensures the quality of work output with a strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy
  • Self-Starter: Must be able to operate in a self-directed manner with little direction and strive to take the initiative to identify issues and/or ways to improve
