The Operations Manager will manage trade support teams across all brokerage products and other operational matters for Private Bank clients.  The Operations team core responsibility is trade processing which includes activities such as trade matching, trade booking, failed trade management and generating pre-confirmations.
 
Responsibilities of the role:
  • Overseeing the daily Operations production in terms of quality and timeliness
  • Managing the risk agenda related to the Operations activities by enforcing a strong control culture in the team, by managing KPIs to ensure that the team operates in a highly disciplined and controlled environment.
  • Resource planning of the team.  Managing the people agenda and development which includes objective set up and feedback on performance.
  • Providing reports and regular updates to the management on capacity and activities supported by the team.
  • Develop strong relationships with business partners.  Acting as an escalation point for all the issues relating to the Operations activities and special requests (large/unusual transactions) requiring senior operations manager attention.
  • Strong understanding on Private Banking business, with emphasis on its product offering and workflow.  Investigating any issue escalated and taking appropriate action to close the issue and avoid reoccurrence. 
  • Participating as subject matter expert in projects involving new product rollout, new system implementation, process implement etc, and for some of the projects, acting as project manager
  • Leveraging other groups in the Banks (e.g. Technology) to resolve systemic issues, improve productivity, efficiency and controls
  • 10+ years private banking / wealth management operations experience
  • Solid comprehension of Private Banking's range of investment products and services.
  • Disciplined approach to managing and acting upon key metrics.
  • Solid communication, time management and interpersonal skills; must be able to diffuse conflict diplomatically.
  • Strong leadership and management abilities; must be able to think strategically.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business and technology environment; must be a change leader.
  • Methodical comprehension of how data and information flow through the firm's processing and reporting systems, and an in-depth understanding of all operation roles and inter-dependencies.
  • Must understand and comply with the regulations, policies and procedures related to products and services supported, and reinforce with their team the possible financial liabilities of the transactions associated with these products and services if they are not executed properly.
