The Information Reporting & Withholding team within JPMorgan Chase & Co’s Corporate Tax Department is looking for an experienced candidate to advise an internal line of business (LoB) on Information Reporting and Withholding (IRW) tax matters.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Review, analyze and interpret new IRW rules. Partner with LoBs to determine the impact on their products, procedures, tax documentation
  • Monitor and identify new products/transactions and ensure that LoB has an
    understanding of how current rules must be applied  
  • Review and comment on language contained in new product approval documents related to the LoB products as they relate to US withholding tax
  • Meet with business and operations areas on a regular basis to ensure a continued
    understanding of the IRW requirements
  • Research and respond to internal day-to-day questions (e.g., questions regarding
    character of payments, tax documentation, client types, and requirements related to complex transactions and structures)
  • Prepare and present training and user tools when appropriate
  • Provide guidance to the LoB on year-end tax reporting (Form 1099, Form 1042, 1042S)

  • Minimum of 7-10 years information reporting and withholding tax experience
  • Legal background or masters in tax preferred
  • Broad knowledge of financial products
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex business transactions/products
  • Project management skills a plus
  • Clear and concise writing skills
  • Ability to synthesize complex regulations into terms easily understood by non-tax professionals
  • Ability to build positive relationships with the LoB and IRW team members, but also have the capacity to work independently
  • Knowledge of investment banking products is a plus
