Department Description
The JPMorgan Chase Audit Department is accountable to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, the Office of the Chairman, executive management and regulators.  Audit is charged with providing an independent evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of the overall system of internal control.  The function works strategically to assist management in identifying and mitigating control risks and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations across the firm.
Reporting functionally to the Audit Committee and administratively to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Audit employs more than 1,000 professionals worldwide. The Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) audit team is responsible for assessing the adequacy of the control environments across the CIB Banking, Markets and Investor Services businesses and control functions. This is achieved through a program of audit coverage that is performed and managed by a global team of integrated technology and financial business specialists.
Role Description 
The role is for an experienced Audit Manager, based in the UK, responsible for providing audit coverage of the Chief Investment Office and Treasury businesses across the EMEA region.  The role will require coverage of areas including, but not limited to, Liquidity, Funding,  Investment and portfolio management, hedging of the firm’s structural interest rate and foreign exchange risks and benchmark submissions. The majority of the coverage will be in the UK, however, the Treasury function has a presence in a number of locations within EMEA which will require audit coverage on a cyclical basis.
The successful candidate will manage the London based audit team and will be responsible for executing the regional audit plan for these areas. They will also partner with Corporate Sector and CIB audit colleagues to ensure appropriate regional coverage of the above-mentioned businesses. The role will also require regular interaction with international regulators, both in the US and in the UK.
They will be expected to: 
  • Participate on and lead audit engagements from planning to reporting, and produce quality deliverables to both department and professional standards.
  • Evaluate, test and report on the adequacy and effectiveness of controls. 
  • Finalize audit findings and use judgment to provide an overall opinion on the control environment.
  • Communicate audit findings to management and identify opportunities for improvement in the design and effectiveness of key controls.
  • Build and maintain key relationships with stakeholders, establishing a culture of engagement whilst adding value.
  • Implement and execute an effective program of continuous monitoring for assigned areas, including monitoring of key metrics to identify control issues and adverse trends.
  • Effectively manage the Audit team, performing timely review of work performed and providing honest and constructive feedback.
  • Stay up-to-date with evolving industry and regulatory changes impacting the business.
  • Travel to overseas business locations as required, approximately 10%-15% should be anticipated.
  • Education to degree standard is preferable, as is a relevant professional qualification. All relevant educational, business or accounting qualifications will be taken into account.
  • Extensive audit or relevant business experience.
  • Knowledge and preferably experience of Markets businesses, specifically within fixed income, ideally from an audit or risk perspective. 
  • In-depth understanding of audit practices and methodologies, including risk assessment and a solid understanding of internal control concepts.
  • The ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Strong analytical skills particularly in regard to assessing the probability and impact of a control weakness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex and sensitive issues to management in a persuasive manner.
  • Enthusiastic, self motivated, effective under pressure and willing to take personal risk and accountability.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders, desire to learn quickly, be flexible and think strategically.
  • Proven ability to multitask as well as assess and change priorities.  
  • Self motivated audit professional who effectively analyses risk and proactively identifies issues.
  • Ability to work well individually, and in teams, share information, support colleagues and encourage participation.
