J.P. Morgan Asset & Wealth Management, with client assets of $2.4 trillion, is a global leader in investment and wealth management. Its clients include institutions, high-net-worth individuals and retail investors in every major market throughout the world. The division offers investment management across all major asset classes including equities, fixed income, alternatives, multi-asset and money market funds. For individual investors, the business also provides retirement products and services, brokerage and banking services including trusts and estates, loans, mortgages and deposits.
Newly formed Global Special Situations (“GSS”) team within the Alternatives Division of JPMorgan Asset Management. The business was recently started with the view to form a global Private and Opportunistic Credit business focusing on Event Driven, Stressed, Special Situations and Distressed Debt credit opportunities. The business is looking to raise and invest external investor funds across the credit spectrum.
The primary responsibility will be to be intimately involved with all aspects of the fund marketing launch strategy and roll out as the direct report the Managing Director Client Product Manager (“CPM”) for GSS. This will include development of marketing materials, fund structure, sales strategy and marketing for raising assets for the first fund. This position will entail direct contact and interaction with not only the CPM but the CO-CIOs, Business management and Investment team. The position is to be New York based.
A key aspect of this position is the development of close collaborative relationships/partnership with the MD CPM within the team and over time to develop external and internal relationships with the Client and Consultant Advisor teams, portfolio managers and investment teams.
The position will require very frequent client contact, requiring excellent communication skills both oral and written communication skills and excellent presentation skills. This person is expected to develop a deep understanding of the product and underlying assets of the funds. This person should have interest in working and pursuing the skills to become an effective Sale and Marketing professional. This role requires a strong work ethic and self-starter mentality.
This individual will play a critical part in:
- Providing the follow up to client calls and questions and thereby communicating the GSS strategy effectively both orally and in written format.
- Establish excellent collaborative working relationships with the Client and Consultant Advisor teams, Legal and Product Development professionals and other administrative personnel involved in business development.
- Over the medium term and post initial fund raising, manage existing client relationships with the goal of deepening and expanding the assets we manage on their behalf. This encompasses executing an annual overall plan, maintaining regular contact with key client representatives as well as delivering very clear and concise account reviews, including thoughtful interpretations of near term economic and other relevant external events. Understand client’s investment goals and objectives and keep them informed about the full scope of our capabilities and what additional investment solutions we may be able to provide to them.
