JPMorgan Chase provides strategic support to businesses and functions from two different divisions:  ‘Core Strategy’ and ‘Strategy & Process Improvement’ (S&PI). Both divisions have approximately 6 teams, including both Corporate and LOB-aligned teams (AM, CCB, CB & CIB). The ‘Core Strategy’ teams focus on the strategic agenda of the firm and the lines of business as well as on commercial evaluation and development of new businesses, products and markets. In comparison, ‘S&PI’ partners with lines of business to improve their operating models, resulting in better processes, controls and financial results.

We are seeking a talented Strategy Associate/Senior Associate in our Corporate & Investment Banking Core Strategy Group. The group functions as an internal consulting group and works on a project basis to address topics at the top of senior management agendas. This role will provide the opportunity to work on many initiatives across the Corporate & Investment Banking organization.  Projects include developing international growth strategies, assessing and planning new product and market entry, strategic business deep dives and designing cross-C&IB wide initiatives. Our focused group of professionals is composed of top performers from top strategy consulting firms, investment banks, other internal JPMorgan Chase groups, and top undergraduate and graduate programs.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead initiatives/projects to resolve diverse problems identified by senior managers of the Corporate & Investment Bank
  • Gather, synthesize, analyze and present project data and findings
  • Financial modeling and valuation analysis
  • Execute creative analyses and provide insight to identify issues and arrive at recommendations
  • Develop strategic presentations for both internal and external audiences
  • Monitors industry trends and shares insightful reports and analyses with broader team and with senior executives
  • Coach and mentor less experienced colleagues
  • Create and/or contribute to an environment of collaboration and mutual responsibility
  • Simultaneously work on multiple projects across CIB

  • 3+ years of experience from either a premier management consulting firm, OR from a investment banking (M&A, Coverage, Capital Markets, Equity Research) division.  Financial Institutions Group (FIG) experience preferred.
  • Diverse problem solving experience, such as experience with a top management consulting firm or in other generalist problem solving environments across financial services sectors
  • An outstanding ability to analyze problems, apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written), work well in cross-functional teams
  • Openness to an environment of active developmental feedback from peers
  • Excellent and efficient skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint tools (absolutely required)
