The Firmwide Risk Identification team is a newly launched cross-LOB Corporate Risk function with an expansive mandate of critical importance to the firm and its capital planning process.  This team needs to undertake many Risk Identification tasks, but at its core, is primarily responsible for 1) leading the design and integration of ongoing risk identification processes with business strategy, capital planning and stress testing activities and 2) managing integrated reviews, including the effective challenge of, the risk identification processes and results across the LOBs through discussions held in the LOBs, in the LOB Risk Committees, and at the Firmwide Risk Committee.  Ultimately, results and corresponding actions will be presented to the Board, via the Directors Risk Policy Committee.  The team will manage the ongoing Firm's Risk Identification process and the related dialogue internally with LOB desks, Risk and Finance functions and externally with regulators on a global basis.
 
Risk Identification is high-profile activity at the firm given the important role it plays in the firmwide capital planning framework.  The team will need to develop a thorough and repeatable process, have frequent interaction with LOB, Risk, and Capital Management Committees, and initiate multi-year enhancements that will further extend and embed Risk Identification activities in all LOBs.  The Associate and Analyst will contribute to select team activities and to a subset of initiatives across the company.  The position organizationally sits within the Risk function.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a firmwide Risk Identification Policy
  • Help to maintain an inventory of material risks, including new, emerging and changing risks, across LOBs and their linkage to capital planning and capital stress testing processes
  • Monitor adherence to procedures for inventory maintenance and Risk Committee reviews across all LOBs, as well as escalation of material changes to the Firmwide Risk Committee and Capital Governance Committee for consideration in capital planning and scenario design
  • Contribute to enhanced management and Board reporting around risk identification
  • Help to incorporate further enhancements over time, including more granular risk identification, mapping of specific risk attributes and potential impacts, and sensitivity of risks to changing macroeconomic environments individually and in the aggregate
Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline. Masters preferred
  • 3 - 6 years of work experience in the financial industry, preferably in Risk Management
  • Strong quantitative and analytical background with a robust understanding of Risk Management concepts and frameworks
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with database management and analytics tools like SQL, R, and Tableau will be looked at favorably
  • High level of professionalism and self-motivation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Proven project management skills and ability to manage large quantities of information and data
  • Ability to work well under pressure with commitment to deliver under tight deadlines
