Commercial Banking (CB) delivers extensive industry knowledge, local expertise and dedicated service to more than 24,000 global clients, including corporations, municipalities, financial institutions and not-for-profit organizations along with nearly 35,000 real estate investors/owners. 
The Data, Analytics, and Tools (DAT) organization defines, develops, and delivers comprehensive data management, business intelligence, and analytics solutions across Commercial Banking. The Analytics & Insights team operates within the DAT organization and is focused on the product management of the Commercial Banks Hadoop-based Enterprise Data Hub (EDH) and its companion business intelligence platform, QlikSense.  The DAT Data Steward will understand the data within these environments, ensure data quality, maintain documentation, and facilitate the use of the data by acting as a subject matter expert.  The Data Steward is an essential player in the Commercial Bank’s overall data quality program.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Work with information domain owners and upstream system experts to facilitate the acquisition and upkeep of data in EDH.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the data within EDH through the use of SQL and profiling tools.
  • Implement data quality controls by partnering with the technology team, the product team, and domain experts.
  • Foster trust in the data by maintaining clear definitions (linked to firm wide standards) in conjunction with transparent documentation of data lineage.
  • Support Hadoop and QlikSense sprint teams by acting as the data subject matter expert to facilitate the acquisition and publication of Analytics & Insights data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with both business and technical stakeholders
  • Intermediate to expert level knowledge of SQL
  • 3-5 years of experience in a data quality, testing, or analyst role
  • Experience in the banking industry and with various banking functions such as KYC, Sales and Marketing, Finance, etc.
  • QlikView and/or QlikSense:  Experience using the tools and ability to interpret data processing scripts
  • Hadoop: Use of Hive and/or Impala query engines
  • A basic knowledge of data modeling techniques
