The Role


An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the Guideline Management department, whose purpose is to safeguard the fund management process by controlling and effectively mitigating portfolio risk. Based in London, the successful candidate will join the guideline management team in a project management capacity working on many guideline monitoring applications in the interpretation, and analysis of investment guideline restrictions. 

The candidate must have considerable Business Analyst experience and the role will include the following:
  • requirements analysis, specification writing, solution design, resolution of issues and Project Management
  • A pivotal role within the implementation of Fidessa (Sentinel) application across the entire JP Morgan Investment Management business
  • Sentinel account and access re-engineering; upgrade testing and universal rule implementation.
  • Guideline Interpretation; front office engagement; coding and quality control
  • Oversight of US, India and Asia coding teams from a guideline coding quality control perspective.

  • Managing several efforts simultaneously across a range of functions, business and organizational units
  • Working with business stakeholders to help define and drive strategy and implementation
  • Identifying and bringing together the right resources, content experts and decision makers to meet goals
 Analysis & Problem Solving
  • Supporting and conducting clear analysis, logical structuring, and creative problem solving on critical issues
  • Creating and applying appropriate conceptual frameworks to push thinking and expand solution sets
  • Assessing risks, costs, and benefits of alternative decisions and approaches
  • Designing processes and tools that yield sustainable improvement and return on investment
Communication & Relationships
  • Building relationships with internal clients and external stakeholders
  • Communicating recommendations and program status to impacted stakeholders
  • Clearly articulating program goals to stakeholders and collaborators
  • Escalating critical issues with a focus on resolution
  • Understanding of business and management functions in Global Investment Management and/or related financial services industries


Skills required
  • Asset Management experience within an Operational Controls function.
  • Experience of working with investment portfolio's and handling different instrument types, including derivatives
  • Practical experience of Project Management lifecycles, ideally utilizing both agile and waterfall methodologies
  • Ideally experience with investment compliance systems, e.g. Sentinel, thinkFolio, LDC, Charles River
  • Experience working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Comfort with ambiguity and dynamically shifting priorities, timelines, and demands
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven collaboration and influencing skills
  • Ability to network with internal stakeholder community to foster positive and proactive collaboration
  • Experience of Interpreting and coding of investment restrictions for Funds (Regulatory, Prospectus and Internal restrictions) and Segregated mandates, covering Fixed Income, Equity, Currency, Multi Asset, Real Estate, Private Equity and Alternative portfolios.
