The CIB Governance & Initiatives group sits in CIB Controls and is responsible for ensuring a strong and consistent control environment for CIB regulatory and controls programs. This includes maintaining a robust controls governance framework and managing regulatory deliverables in a timely and high quality manner. A comprehensive accountability model promotes consistency in approach and solutions and provides a formal structure for the cohesive and centralized oversight of critical CIB programs.
 
The CIB Policy and Procedure Governance team is part of the Governance & Initiatives group and leads and manages policy and procedure governance across the CIB. The team is responsible for the CIB’s policy and procedure framework, including:  (1) supporting the Business’s implementation of policies; (2) overseeing the management of policies and procedures; (3) instructing the Business on drafting new policies and procedures; (4) administering the CIB Policy Forum; and (5) partnering with CIB programs, including ongoing remediation of existing CIB procedures, to ensure the consistent application of the procedure framework.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Run the monthly CIB Policy Forum, which oversees policy governance for the CIB
  • Work closely with Compliance, Risk, the Business, and program leads to ensure policies are implemented effectively in the CIB
  • Lead the development of the CIB procedures management operating model
  • Establish and lead a workstream to support Business’ procedure  remediation program
  • Implement and execute a quality review program for the procedures remediation program
  • Support the development of technology to store and manage CIB procedures
  • Represent CIB on corporate policy and procedure-related forums and working groups
  • Manage the production of monthly policy and procedure governance  reporting
  • Oversee the management of CIB policies
  • Manage policy and procedure-related Audit and Compliance requests and maintain function specific procedures
  • Identify and resolve weaknesses in policy and procedure control environment
Role Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Extensive experience in financial services, preferably in oversight and controls, operations or compliance
  • Good knowledge of corporate and investment banking products and services
  • Experience in both leading teams in a project environment and managing people
  • Excellent analytical skills: able to develop, clearly present and draw conclusions
  • Investigative mindset: able to see issues at both a high-level and in detail
  • Proactive approach to problem solving: taking ownership of issues and fixes
  • Highly disciplined approach to process and quality control 
  • Relationship management:  must have the ability to develop and maintain strong partnerships with numerous teams and key stakeholders and have excellent influencing skills
  • Ability to mediate conflicts and escalate issues where appropriate
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.  Ability to present concise, direct and timely communications to senior management and key partners
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
