As a member of our Software Engineering Group you will dive head-first into creating innovative solutions that advance businesses and careers. You’ll join an inspiring and curious team of technologists dedicated to improving the design, analytics, development, coding, testing and application programming that goes into creating high quality software and new products. You’ll be tasked with keeping the team and other key stakeholders up to speed on the progress of what’s being developed. Coming in with an understanding of the importance of end-to-end software development-such as Agile frameworks-is key. And best of all, you’ll be working with and sharing ideas, information and innovation with our global team of technologists from all over the world.

Qualifications – External

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

•Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines

•Understanding of architecture and design across all systems 

•Working proficiency in developmental toolsets

•Ability to collaborate with high-performing teams and individuals throughout the firm to accomplish common goals

•Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages

•Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance and software improvement


The Corporate Technology (CT) organization develops applications and provides technology

support for corporate functions across JPMorgan Chase, including Global Finance, Corporate

Treasury, Risk Management, Human Resources, Compliance, Legal, and all functions within the

Corporate Administrative Office (CAO).  The RQD (Risk Quantitative Development) IT Organization has responsibility for implementation of Retail financial models in credit, collections, fraud, and regulatory reporting, as well as providing firm-wide model governance systems, and analytical environments for business analysts and model developers.


The Unix Engineer will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining a large Linux/AIX based SAS environment. The candidate must have a sound grasp of development best practices and system architecture.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily support of the production environment and take ownership in managing and resolving issues and problems encountered
  • Interact with various teams to ensure a stable production environment, including but not limited to client facing support, application developers, business analysts, infrastructure, build & deployment and quality assurance.
  • Design, implement, improve and utilize key monitoring tools
  • Perform and seek to continuously improve the monitoring of the application environment and supporting infrastructure
  • Developing and promoting standard operating procedures and creating processes and tooling for operational efficiency.
  • Identify operational and infrastructure risks within the environment and work with the application development team and Operate teams to make corrections and mitigate risks


Core Skills:

  • College degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical training.
  • 4 to 6 years of IT experience
  • Extenesive experience in writing unix scripts using perl, bash to automate the provisioning, monitoring and maintenance of systems in a distributed, enterprise environment
  • Experience and working knowledge of Technology Infrastructure systems and solutions including Networking, SAN, NAS, Backup, Unix, Linux, AIX, and Grid
  • Administration of Unix KEON classes, new group/user setup.
  • Experience with software development, application development, requirements gathering, system analysis, and system documentation
  • Experience in monitoring system performance using tools such as NMON, Java Profiler
  • Knowledge of server to network interfaces, TCP/IP protocols, TCP/IP routing, IP switching, DNS and DHCP

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of SAS
  • Knowledge of Hadoop
  • Must be able to work with and leverage skills from other teams in the organization
  • Liaise with other Core Engineers in troubleshooting complex, cross-platform issues
  • Knowledge of Control-M/Autosys scheduling tool.
