Department & Role Description
 
This role is a Business manager role at Vice President level supporting the activities and the growth agenda for the Equity Capital Markets business (ECM) in EMEA, based in the London office. This role reports into the Executive Director Business Manager and will have 1 direct report.
 
The role will involve working closely and partnering with the ECM business and the various control and support functions in a) assisting the business to achieve its immediate, short, medium and long term objectives, b) making sure the business is aligned with control and support functions (such as Legal, Compliance, Operations, HR, Audit, Technology, BCO, e.t.c) and the associated requirements and c) ensuring the business is in compliance with the appropriate corporate objectives and policies.  This represents an excellent platform to work with a variety of teams across the CIB.

The Business manager role aims to be a trusted advisor in all aspects of the business; including strategy, people agenda, financial performance, controls. Assist the business in identifying and achieving its objectives.
 
Responsibilities :
  • Help the business in managing strategy, control, people and financial performance

  • Proactively and on request provide strategic analysis to determine business progression and issues

  • Regularly conducting Business reviews, Expenses management and resources analysis
  • Working closely with Business managers in Asia and North America, and Business managers in Country, Industry and Product
  •  Working closely with all control and support functions, and the business, in the day to day management of the business and in representing the business on various ad hoc projects
 
Day to Day Responsibilities:
  • Pipeline management and tracking revenue booking
  • Target / Completed deals follow-ups
  • Coordinating regulatory/strategic changes to the business
  • League Table analysis
  • Monthly fee recognition working with Product Control, Middle office and Billing
  • Financial planning, tracking, controlling and forecasting
  • Monthly forecasting
  • Testing of all Aqueduct / Dealworks and other related technology enhancements
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
  • Strong academic background
  • Business Management experience preferred
  • Excellent numeracy skills.  Strong spreadsheet skills preferred
  • Understanding of Investment Banking and Corporate Finance products (particularly equity)
  • Team player
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, being able to communicate to senior front office resources at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Time management and problem solving; flexible, multi-tasking and ability to prioritize requests
  • Energetic, self motivated and effective under pressure. Work well individually and with teams.
  • Disciplined approach to managing processes and controls
