Group Description
Market Risk is an independent risk group within Corporate Risk Management, reporting to the Firm’s CRO, which identifies, measures, monitors and controls market risk. Market risk management seeks to facilitate efficient risk/return decisions, reduce volatility in operating performance and ensure that the firm's market risk profile is transparent to senior management, the Board of Directors and regulators. Firmwide Market Risk works closely with the Market Risk Coverage teams aligned to each Line of Business and other partner teams to set a consistent framework and to share best practices across LOB Market Risk teams.
 
Job Summary
Firmwide Market Risk is seeking an associate, based in New York, to design, implement and enhance market risk processes, and to manage strategic initiatives.  The individual will work with the team to provide governance and implement enhancements to Authorized Instruments process, and support the design and execution of strategic technology initiatives around Authorized Instruments. The role requires working closely with the LOB Market Risk Coverage teams and partner groups including Risk Reporting, Oversight and Control, Middle Office, Technology, Quantitative Research, and Model Risk Governance & Review to establish controls and initiatives across Market Risk Management Firmwide.   
 
Job Responsibilities
  • Work on various strategic projects, process enhancement and control initiatives related to market risk management including Authorized Instruments, Product Dormancy, Market Risk Data Domain, and Hedge Availability Framework, etc.
  • Provide expertise and support to the Central AI Team, LOB MO/IT teams, and Market Risk Coverage on Authorized Instruments
  • Coordinate annual review of Authorized Instruments key controls across LOBs
  • Facilitate product dormancy review by providing high level product mapping and ensuring dormant product removal from Authorized Instruments
  • Perform research and data analytics to support the implementation of strategic initiatives and regulatory deliverables.
  • Create communication materials for the projects managed
  • Develop strong relationship with LOB Market Risk Coverage teams, Risk Reporting and other partner groups to drive initiatives forward
     
Skills/Experience Required
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree; 5+ years work experience in the financial industry
  • Strong technical skills and financial product knowledge, working experience with Technology a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.  Must be able to communicate with a wide variety of functional groups at various levels
  • Ability to multi-task. Ability to work independently with high attention to detail
  • Power user of Microsoft Excel (including macros), PowerPoint, and Visio, etc.
