Asia Pacific Digitization (OCR Product Owner) – Vice-President
 
#GoDigitalOps is a regional project team responsible for Operations Transformation leveraging Robotics and other Digital Tools. This is excellent opportunity for the right individual to work in a fast paced dynamic team and to help identify and establish best practice within JP Morgan and the industry.
Optical Character Recognition, or OCR, is a technology that enables you to convert different types of documents, such as scanned paper documents, PDF files or images captured by a digital camera into editable and searchable data. OCR technologies include a broad spectrum of tools that range in capabilities and price points – starting with basic character recognition to ICR (Intelligent character recognition) for hand written documents & OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) for checkmarks in a standard document.
The OCR Product Owner is part of the APAC Digitization team driving Operations Transformation specifically targeted at document processing. Due to the nature of the role, you will have to make quick decisions on competing priorities with tight timelines and also be tenacious at problem-solving. The primary responsibilities will be end-to-end execution of OCR implementation in Asia-Pacific across all line of business (LOB), countries and corporate functions. This will include leading cross-LOB working sessions in Asia-Pacific, conducting roadshows across locations and team, meeting with internal and external clients, and driving other critical activities to support the program.
You will partner with the Global project teams and work closely with all LOBs/functions to drive the overall Document processing transformation agenda. You will also work closely with the technology domain owner(s) on the Firm’s evolving technology and vendor strategy, as well as on the continued development of robust governance and controls processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business leaders in driving the overall OCR/ Document processing transformation agenda across Asia-Pacific
  • Develop, publish, and maintain OCR educational materials (e.g., framework for identifying processes well-suited for OCR implementation, successful use cases, industry best practices& demos)
  • Work with LOB’s that are heavy on paper based processing & help identify potential opportunities for automation using OCR
  • Liaise with various LOBs and COEs across Asia-Pacific to track and forecast progress, including impact/benefits
  • Manage communications for a wide variety of audiences internally and externally, including executive-level communications and periodic newsflashes to potential OCR users.
  • Organize and launch a Asia-Pacific Forum with key stakeholders to address common issues and share best practices across disparate teams and lines of business
  • Partner with technology domain owners on execution strategy as well as governance & controls development
Qualifications
  • 8-10  years of financial services experience, 3-5 years consulting experience with a top-tier management consulting firm or an internal consulting/corporate strategy team, including 1-3 years managerial experience motivating and leading teams
  • Effective organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple work streams and processes under tight deadlines
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and ability to structure and scope complex problems; team-oriented nature with clear project ownership mentality; track record of successful team mentorship
  • Formidable interpersonal skills, exceptional relationship building and influencing skills; ability to effectively partner with all levels of management across a diverse set of functions, locations and businesses
  • Ability to assimilate broad-ranging information quickly and to distill it into key points, while communicating clearly and in a concise manner
  • Demonstrated fluency across operations and technology environments
  • Excellent oral and written executive-level communication and presentation skills in English and Mandarin (plus)
  • Strong knowledge emerging technologies and digital tools
  • Ability to travel around Asia-Pacific
