Description 

The Digital PMO is a specialized services unit within Digital Portfolio which provides governance, planning, reporting and financial services to large programs and roadmaps within Digital Technology.


The Project Manager we are seeking utilizes his or her business knowledge related to financial services and/or institutions to provide services to large initiatives within Digital. The project manager works extensively with business, product, and IT team members to ensure the implementation fulfills the product vision defined by Product Management.  This dynamic position will provide a highly collaborative environment with an ability to influence the future products and services that Chase offers online, mobile, via tablet and other digital platforms.  

The ideal candidate has deep skills in one or more areas mentioned below, and is passionate about solving real-world problems. They are hands-on, without needing an army of other people to support them, and love learning new skills along the way. They feel comfortable working with a diverse team of designers, product managers, business leaders and other project managers.

 

Essential functions:

  •         Working in conjunction with the PMO lead to deliver an overall excellent experience related to governance for the program(s) assigned.

  •        Prepare and deliver material for all governance and working group meetings.  Provide support for or conduct these types of meetings for the program.  Offer, develop and deliver training to individuals that are new to the program, or are not following prescribed procedures.  Be the focal individual to provide traffic control related to program team interaction. This includes, but is not limited to:

  •        Program Leadership Group (PLG, or status meetings) – set agendas, define status templates, collect weekly or otherwise reports, collect PMO gathered material (issues, risks, change controls, plan, finance, other) into the deck, assemble “raw data” into information within the deck and produce however frequently the team meets.  

  •        Change Control Meetings – produce reporting, set agendas, facilitate outcomes, assist or lead the meeting

  •        Steering Committee meetings – produce reporting, assist in setting agendas and/or leading the meeting

  •        Identify, input if necessary, manage, report and escalate all risks and issues of the program.   

  •        Managing risks and issues includes ensuring that risks and issues are evidencing progress towards resolution on a frequent basis.  Progress towards resolution is evidenced via an update in the comments of the issue or risk, PMO intervention with a meeting to get disparate teams together or other methods to evidence progress.  

  •        Develop and provide weekly, or as necessary reporting/dashboards identifying the risks and issues to various stakeholders including senior management and other teams

  •        When issues/risks are not showing progress, are at a stalemate or otherwise need escalation, appropriately ensure that visibility is provided to more senior levels of the program

  •         Managing the Change Control process, for internal and external change controls for the program.    This could include developing processes, training and/or reporting.  Be the focal point for interaction between the program and any external technology teams required for capacity.   Input external change controls to PPL and drive all teams to commitment.  

  •         Develop and maintain a central repository of artifacts for the program; evergreen the repository as the maturity of the program develops.    Offer, develop and deliver training to individuals that are new to the program or are not following prescribed procedures.

  •        Assist with establishing project and program management processes internally within the program; ensure linkage between the program and digital and CCB processes are occurring at all times.

  •        Identify the need for, and assist with preparation of training material on processes, skills and/or tools required by the program.  Assist and/or deliver training.

  •        Provide support to a program from a structure or strategic planning perspective.  Activities could include

  •        Assistance with structuring working or governance teams (status reporting teams, change control teams, requirements teams, steering teams)  

  •        Process definition or reengineering for program or project activities related to the entire lifecycle of the program

  •        Assist with preparation of material related to initial or on-going program assessment.  This could include assessing the program post release, assessing a focused area of the program for improvement, or assessing the needs of a new area to the Digital PMO to offer future services to.

  •         Assist with demand/capacity management for the program and its releases.  This could include:

  •         Collaborate with the planning tower on delivery dates for program related deliverables on a per release basis, including requirements definition, modeling and commitment dates and monitor

  •        Working with the business to facilitate the creation of program charters, as well as establish requirements for each release

  •        Monitoring architecture delivery and due dates

  •        Soliciting internal digital and external non-digital technical teams for input on concept and post requirement estimates, as well as modeling and commitment agreement

  •        Working with Digital portfolio management, digital intake teams and demand management as required to understanding dates, contacts, processes, etc.

  •        Working with technical project managers to assist in facilitation of requirements for external teams

  •        Ensure alignment with CCB and Digital planning standards; develop key relationships with planning team members within the PMO practices space to facilitate knowledge transfer

  •        Assist with the program’s transition into a BAU environment when complete

  •         Knowledge and experience in other PMO activities to engage and learn in other towers for back-up purposes – governance, finance and reporting.

Required Skillsets:

  •         Knowledge of what a risk or issue is; Experience identifying risks and issues, and translating them into an actionable statements; experience communicating program delivery risk to various senior stakeholders, including business and technology executives and their teams

  •         Strong leadership experience required, in order to consistently guide divergent perspectives into an overall solution for the program plan

  •         Knowledge in understanding and applying JPMC’s (or similar large company release methodology) release structure to integrate the program’s milestones into the enterprise and digital release structure

  •        Knowledge in the project methodologies – waterfall, and agile and able to construct a skeleton program plan based upon one or both methodologies

  •        Previous experience working on large programs - >$20 mm and > 100 resources

  •        Consultative, positive approach to performing job activities internally within the PMO, and externally to our clients.  Experience working in a consulting firm is a plus.

  •        High emotional IQ – able to rise above the noise, and zero in on resolving issues without emotion
