Within Wealth Management, the Global Controls Management (GCM) organization’s primary function is to (i) ensure a sustainable and disciplined end-to-end control environment for WM; (ii) identify and escalate issues with a sense of urgency; and, (iii) partner with the business to ensure timely remediation of issues.
 
Global Controls Management works in partnership with the business, as the first line of defense. The team assists in immediate, real time critical control issue detection, escalation, root cause analysis and remediation. In addition, the team works in collaboration with all other control functions – Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Legal.
 
Core Accountabilities
  • Provide support on oversight of Discretionary Accounts and support Portfolio Management Group/Investors on their daily operations.
  • Review Investment Parameters: ensure compliance with Investment parameters signed by the client and consistent with the set up in Workstation.
  • Pre Trade Check Controls: Review and assess any potential trading issues. Including: FX hedging; Client Suitability; Hedge Fund, and Structured Product Approvals
  • Post Trade Controls/Ongoing monitoring of discretionary accounts: Ensure that all breaches are appropriately addressed/resolved.
  • Producing and, on occasion, designing high quality Management Information to be used by the most senior of regional managers
  • Perform testing in relation to system enhancements, new releases and product launches
  • Account Management and Escalation (Assist senior team members in the review and approval of bespoke transactions; Exception and Mandate Management; Risk Metric Support).
  • Participate in monthly meetings with Investment Team Leads to review post trade exceptions
  • Provide first level control and oversight of the investment management business across a series of market teams as needed
  • Provide support to the overall control organization in various initiatives. 
  • Partner with Internal Audit, Compliance and other control functions to remediate control issues, as well as proactively identify (RCSA process) and mitigate risks
  • Participation in projects and strategic initiatives as directed by the senior control lead for Discretionary Accounts.
Qualifications and Key Skills
 
We are looking for:
 
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple asks to tight deadlines and re-prioritise as required
  • Strong Excel and Powerpoint skills
  • Strong communication skills: the role will involve communicating with employees of varying levels, with diverse roles and different native languages
  • Fluency in English both orally and in writing. Other languages are a bonus
  • Professional maturity; the ability to work alone and handle confidential data
  • A self-motivated individual who is keen to pursue a career in Wealth Management & Investment Solutions
  • An individual who is motivated by the control environment and has an interest in learning about governance, regulation and risk management
  • A strong interest in financial markets and products
