Our business
Markets and Investor Services Operations provides middle and back office operational support across all asset classes including equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities. Services provided encompass securities and derivatives processing, asset servicing, mutual fund and hedge fund administration, clearing, settlement and collateral management; vaulting and movement of physical commodities; reconciliations and billing support for clients and partners in over 100 global markets. 
 
Our external clients include Asset Managers, Pension and Life Funds, Government Funds, Hedge Funds, Broker Dealers, Global Custodians, Agent Banks, Corporations, Retail clients and other Financial Institutions. We partner with various functions across the CIB including Technology, Data Science, Client Service, Product and Platform.
 
Markets and Investor Services Operations has an expense base of $1.2B and over 12,000 Headcount across multiple lines of business and regions.
 
Opportunity
The opportunity is for a senior VP to join the CIB Markets and IS Operations Finance and Business management team
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Analyse the financial results to highlight risks and identify mechanisms to mitigate
  • Drive consistency across the Markets and IS finance teams for quality and content of reporting ensuring an exceptional standard of delivery
  • Develop targeted senior management reporting
  • Establish a senior management review framework to drive accountability across the senior operation management team for achieving their financial targets.
  • Ensure all expense drivers are well defined (new business, location strategy, Tech and Ops driven productivity) and robust plans exist that can be validated to provide confidence around delivery
  • Own the governance process around the Markets and IS Operations location strategy and associated reporting. Help drive the location strategy by identifying opportunities and provide an early escalation of any migrations at risk, both planned and in flight
  • Anticipate the events that will require senior management attention and direct efforts to address
  • Provide technical finance, organisation and man management support and guidance to the Finance managers.
Requirements
  • Detailed knowledge of the business and finance
  • Ability to drive improvement in the quality, accuracy and prediction capability of the management accounting processes
  • Solution focused and pragmatic
  • Ability to articulate in a very short amount of time a detailed understanding of a complex set of financials
  • Holds self and others accountable to a set of high standards
  • Not afraid to have difficult conversations
  • Someone who can think strategically but also knows the numbers in detail
  • To be able to build strong relationships and partnerships across the organization
  • Proactively addresses issues and drives discussion until resolution is reached
 
 
Essential skills
  • Accounting degree
  • Knowledge of the finance industry
  • Experience in managing teams
  • Some knowledge of JPM would be a plus
  • Ability to manage concurrent and often conflicting priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure to deliver within short turnaround times
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills, across all levels of the organization
