The Global Compliance Operations (GCO) organization provides management and oversight associated with operational support for Global Compliance including the development of operational centers of excellence for compliance functions which are operational in nature including: Alert Operations (Level 1 Alerts Disposition), OFAC/Client Screening, Due Diligence, Look Backs, Disclosure of Interest, Account Activity Reviews, Personal Account Dealing, and Licensing & Registration.  
 
GCO is responsible for supporting and leading aspects of the firm's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program. The team works closely with the AML Program Management Office, Global Financial Crimes Compliance and the enterprise-wide control program teams to identify, remediate and track issues, and develop controls to sustain improvements as they are made. The company's responsibilities related to Anti-Money Laundering span every business, function and region - and apply to every customer and client of the firm.
 
The Due Diligence Operations team is part of Global Compliance Operations. The team works closely with Global Financial Crimes Compliance, which is part of the firm’s Global Compliance group.  The team covers both global and business-aligned functions supporting the firm's Know Your Customer (KYC) programs. 
 
The Due Diligence Unit conducts background investigations of potential or existing clients of the bank.  We primarily support the Private Bank teams globally, conducting 150,000 checks annually.  Research attempts to find derogatory/background information that will assist client advisors with their KYC requirements. 
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Research, document and analyze background information on JPMorgan’s prospective and existing clients through public record databases; research includes: negative media, Politically Exposed Person (PEP) & sanctions
  • Ability to identify & deem relevancy of public records, as it relates to customer information
  • Conduct specialized research to determine disposition of any open records
  • Summarize and communicate derogatory information in written form
  • Compile research data into a standardized report and forward to review for accuracy of findings
  • Properly identify risks and escalate derogatory/high risk findings to Senior Management; risks include but not limited to – PEP, High Risk Global Jurisdictions and Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) / Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) matches
  • Exercise sound judgment and observe the highest degree of confidentiality.
  • Current need REQUIRES written and verbal fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese Language for the Latin American team.
  • Must have at least one year of experience in a professional work environment
  • Research, analytical and comprehension skills, with ability to analyze and summarize large amounts of data

  • Strong verbal and written skills to clearly articulate and document alert disposition
  • Well organized, self starter
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in high -pressure environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for report summarizations and escalations

  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel; strong typing skills
 
Preferred skills:
    • Knowledge of Compliance, KYC/Due Diligence and/or investigation experience  
    • Familiarity with public records
    • Relevant course work in criminology, law and logic
    • Knowledge of “Boolean Search” logic techniques
    • Bachelor’s Degree
