The successful candidate will join an Agile Delivery Team responsible for producing fixes and enhancements for a complex, distributed financial messaging platform.  The focus of this ‘hands on’ technical role will be Functional Testing but team members should expect to contribute across a wide range of tasks such as: the development of automated tests and application code; the updating of system configuration and documentation; the planning and delivery of Production implementations; and the support of the Production system.


Role responsibilities:

  • Working as a multi-skilled technical Test Analyst in an Agile Delivery Team split across the UK, US and India.
  • Analyzing Requirements and Design Documentation prior to designing, documenting, executing and maintaining repeatable Functional and Non-Functional Test Cases utilizing HP ALM and JIRA.
  • Creating automated test components in CA LISA / Java / Python / webMethods to automate the loading of data, the running of services and the validation of results.
  • Analyzing functional and non-functional issues, tracing back the problem to specific components or pieces of code; tracking down and independently resolving environmental issues.
  • Working collaboratively across the AD team to deliver high quality solutions to technical problems whether delivering code, configuration, documentation or process changes.
  • Planning, documenting and implementing Production code releases.
  • Taking part in the Production Level 3 Support Rota, responsible for managing and resolving out of hours Production incidents.
  • At least 3 years experience working in a Test Analyst role with a strong background in Functional Testing and sound technical ability.
  • Experience working with a Financial Services Messaging Platform or any Distributed Message Processing Architecture.
  • Experience in testing middleware applications including MQ / UM and Messaging Broker based systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (2.1+), preferably in a numerate subject.
  • Experience in working with XML Message Formats.
  • Knowledge of SWIFT, SWIFT Message Types and their composition and purpose.
  • Knowledge of SQL including creating and executing queries against an Oracle database.
  • Knowledge of the full testing lifecycle from analysis and definition of test cases, through to execution and documentation of test results.
  • Extensive experience in working with industry standard test tools such as HP ALM, JIRA, SharePoint, Excel, VBA, and experience in test automation using such tools and languages as: CA LISA, JAVA and Python.
  • Developed experience of UNIX, with the ability to navigate directory structures, monitor and search logs, run scripts and monitor processes.
  • Experience working with Java based systems and the ability to read and understand Java code.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with good attention to detail and the ability to create high quality deliverables.



  • Formal testing qualifications (ISEB / ISTQB)
  • Degree in Computer Science
  • Experience working with SoftwareAG webMethods
  • Non-Functional Test Experience
