The Compliance function has a robust set of priorities in place focused on best practice and employee development to ensure goals are delivered.
The Global Financial Crimes team is responsible for Anti Money Laundering (AML) monitoring and sanctions screening for all EMEA booked activity across the Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) businesses and to provide KYC Compliance support to the business.
This role is part of the financial crime objective to:
Identify suspicious activity and report to law enforcement
Prevent clients being onboarded or being maintained that create money laundering or reputational risk to JPMC
Ensure JPMC does not maintain accounts or facilitate transactions involving sanctioned countries, parties or individuals.
The team works in partnership with colleagues in US and Asia Compliance, local EMEA in-country Compliance teams and client focused staff within the LOB.
As part of this Group, the EMEA GFCC TS Advisory Case Management Team completes monitoring of high risk clients and the related transactions booked through EMEA correspondents across the TSS, IB and Commercial Bank businesses. This supports the cease and desist process and corporate account reviews to provide analysis of transactions being processed through JPM accounts.
This position requires a self-motivated individual with a strong knowledge of data processing tools to an advanced level along with an inquiring mind, analytical skills and a knowledge of risk. Experience gained in financial services, accountancy, financial crimes analysis and risk management to assist in AML investigations roles. A working knowledge of global financial institutions and commercial treasury products and operational processes is advantageous.
Duties & Responsibilities
To conduct data management & analysis of a series of highly complex data sets. To investigate highlighted activity, researching the client and public domain information to identify whether it is unusual and ultimately whether suspicious and requires reporting.
To develop a good working knowledge of OFAC and other sanctions programs in order to support ad-hoc queries raised by CIB business partners and their customers.
To research AML typologies such as terrorist financing, tax evasion, sanctions evasion and then apply the characteristics to interrogate transaction data to identify unusual activity.
Provide periodic reports to Business and Compliance Managers, enabling them to evidence to regulators the AML monitoring completed and demonstrate adherence to business restrictions determined.
Participate in ad hoc projects and enhanced reviews at the request of the MLRO, line of business Compliance, AML & Sanctions manager or external enquiries / investigations.
Bachelors degree (or equivalent) or comparable work experience required.
The ability to work with very large data sets on Excel/Access/VBA is desirable for the role, including the ability to write macros and Excel formulae to develop patterns for analysis.
Clear and concise verbal and written communication.
Knowledge of banking / payment processing and/or risk analysis work is advantageous.
Demonstrable skills in risk assessment.
The ability to make sound decisions, including escalation when appropriate, in regard of AML or sanction risk.
Problem management skills.
Well organised and able to execute responsibilities with minimal supervision; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and bring tasks to completion within established timeframes.
