Job Description / Key responsibilities
 
Credit Risk Associate/VP role based in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (“KSA”), part of the EM MENA Team within CIB Risk EMEA based in London. The MENA team covers both Corporate and Financial Institutions Group credit clients in the MENA Region, working closely with key line of business partners across the region in JPMorgan’s Corporate & Investment Bank, including Global Corporate Bank, Markets, Debt Capital Markets, Trade Finance  and Treasury Services. Given the broad sector and client base the team covers, it is focused on performing credit analysis on clients which cover the full credit spectrum and structuring and documenting a wide variety of credit products, which include: Syndicated and bilateral credit facilities (including Acquisition & infrastructure finance), Corporate derivatives (e.g  FX, interest rate, commodities as well as structured derivatives), Trade finance (including ECA financing, Letter of Credits, Supply Chain Finance) and Treasury service products.
 
The role will involve:
  • Preparation of credit applications for transactions detailing all key risks (whether business, industry or transaction) and proposing specific recommendations including grading
  • Undertaking analysis of industries and relevant peer groups to determine key industry drivers and how these affect individual market participants
  • Managing the credit transaction process; from the approval process through to booking the exposure in the bank's internal systems as well as working with middle office functions on addressing and resolving transaction operational points
  • Structuring, negotiating and documenting new transactions in conjunction with legal counsel
  • Pro-active portfolio management. Monitoring the ongoing business activities and financial performance of existing clients, including financial covenant monitoring ongoing credit relationship management of portfolio clients including annual reviews and periodic updates. Ongoing monitoring and ad hoc reporting of the bank's various credit exposures. Maintaining appropriate client records in line with firmwide and regulatory requirements
  • Becoming an expert on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; keeping up to date with the political and macroeconomic environment as well as having an in-depth knowledge of clients in the portfolio.
  • Implementation of risk management and compliance procedures in accordance with SAMA/CMA requirements and corporate policies
  • Maintaining connectivity with Credit Risk colleagues to stay aware of overall market developments, best practices as well as training and development
  • Traveling to meet clients in KSA and possibly other countries and occasionally travelling for Credit meetings to London
  • Representing JPMorgan for credit matters vis-à-vis regulators
Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate is likely to be university qualified in economics, finance or a related area and hold at least a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with excellent academic results. Graduate or post graduate education at a foreign business school or academic institution would be advantageous
  • 5 years’ work experience in a credit related analytical role with an international financial institution, preferably in credit research or a credit risk department, but possibly in investment/corporate banking, ratings advisory, etc
  • Strong credit skills. Familiarity with credit documentation and financial products. Familiarity with Saudi and Islamic Finance documentation elements would be an advantage. Excellent financial modelling skills
  • Strong understanding of the purpose and techniques of credit analysis, combined with good judgement and the ability to look beyond quantitative data in forming an analytical view with an intensive 'hands on' approach to digging into the details of credit and structure, to construct concise and coherent credit assessments for presentation both verbally and in writing
  • The candidate has to be able to lead in depth due diligence, co-ordinate and produce credit memos which will be the basis on which credit decisions are made
  • Knowledge of financial accounting standards as well as relevant banking legislation and regulatory environment
  • Strong team-player; ability to plug oneself into a fairly complex network and manage conflicting priorities. First rate project management skills. Good problem-solving skills. A highly organized person who is able to work proactively and independently, often to tight deadlines
  • Be able to establish credibility and trust with clients, coverage bankers, product specialists and Credit Executives, and to partner with them effectively
  • Advanced and confident PC user, experienced in working with common office packages and financial spreadsheet models in particular
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills. Excellent command of verbal and written English.
  • The candidate must be a KSA national
