Software Engineer, Banking Technology, VP

As a SL3 lead, you will be leading a team of 4-5 highly technical Associates and will be responsible for ensuring 24*7 availability of critical Corporate Payments Applications. This position requires a high level of solution & development expertise in Java stack of technologies with payments & receivables domain knowledge & production management skills. The ability to communicate effectively is also required as you will work closely with other groups both within and outside of the Payments group.
Responsibilities Include:
Incident & Problem Management
  • Lead Incident resolution for high severity incidents upon escalation from Production Support
  • Own root cause analysis and provide tactical and strategic solutions
  • This position will be focused on proactive analysis to drive down outage minutes, improve recovery time, improve monitoring and reduce time to engage
  • Interface with Level 1/2 and Operations to understand known issues & implement proactive monitoring solutions and diagnose performance & stability
  • Participate in defect management, raising Jira, issue tracking/trending, Prioritization of defects
  • Ability to learn new products and technologies outside of background experience
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic and challenging environment involving critical thinking
Application Management:
  • Deliver service improvements by continuous improvements and efficiencies by soliciting regular feedback from clients and business partners.
  • Managing the stability of applications via operational & platform improvements
  • Managing fix plan for production defects, stability related changes, MWA remediation
  • Managing all the risk & control agenda of the applications
  • Managing the infrastructure capacity & identify any degradation; Infrastructure Cost - Dev & Production Environments and DR & SR Test Plans
  • Managing overall hygiene of the application; remediation of breaks, appropriate backups and production ticket hygiene
  • Ensuring RCAs for the incidents are closed in timely fashion
  • Define, analyze, plan, measure and improve all aspects of the availability and resiliency of an application; establish and manage service levels; and ensure that services and infrastructure are able to deliver capacity
Change Management:
  • Act as a gatekeeper to Production and ensure all new changes going into production are well tested, have an effective validation plan and all the team members/Production Support are well trained.
  • Participate in new projects from design phase and assist development team in designing solutions with operability in mind.
  • Ensure Change Record meets minimum acceptance criteria laid out by Change Advisory Board and all plans are well rehearsed.
  • Manage weekly Internal Change Governance meetings and publish the changes to senior management and other key stakeholders for approval.
Application Development:
  • Own the delivery of planned Application Bug fixes, hot fixes and other maintenance items.
  • Develop efficient and highly readable code and refactor legacy code; build for ease of testing and maintenance
  • Own all stability and result oriented innovation initiatives which contribute towards production stability, reduced manual efforts and enhance Application’s usability.
  • Contribute towards local Tech-hub related initiatives  
  • Enhancing the SME knowledge of the team in the functional & technical domains in a measurable way
  • Be the Change leader & constantly look for innovative ways to improve productivity & provide efficiencies
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent discipline
  • Over 5 years experience in software/application development with Java/J2EE developing large, mission-critical applications
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodology (Scrum, Continuous Integration, and etc). Hands-on Agile development is preferred
  • Strong experience of working in a software development and/or support capacity in time critical financial applications, including financial transaction processing, settlement, and accounting
  • Good understanding of full software life cycle development process
  • Strong Hands-on Core Java, Spring, JMS, Maven, JUnit skills - all essential
  • In-depth knowledge of messaging technologies, like MQ, JMS and etc.
  • Proficient at Linux and shell scripting
  • Good knowledge of Oracle, SQL queries
  • Familiar with object oriented design
  • Experience on Source code version control systems GIT/Stash, SVN
  • Experience on build and integration tools including Jenkins, auto deployment tool and etc.
  • Preferable to have exposure to Apache Storm, Apache Cassandra, Apache Kafka, Groovy and Spring Boot
