Job Description:
 
The Business Middleware Services group supports all LOB's in Consumer and Community Banking. We work closely with many internal technology groups and deliver web services to our clients.
We are seeking a talented and passionate developer to work as part of our Agile team.  Someone that is enthusiastic about delivering high quality solutions that provide real business value with a focus on writing smart, simple and clean code.
 
Seeking a seasoned manager who is committed to building great teams by enablement and direction and not by command and control. Someone that understands that great teams aren’t built but grown and that the core focus of the team is teamwork and not individual status.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the overall teams and applications being managed.
  • Partner with Scrum Masters and Application Development Leads to ensure teams are following enterprise development and application standards with a focus on key engineering practices such as Continuous Integration, Test Drive Development, and Collective Code Ownership.
  • Partner with Business and Architects to understand product/service vision and the roadmap to ensure application architecture is evolving to meet current and future direction.
  • Ensure overall application operational health by focusing on: keeping critical documentation (such as Run Books) ever green, maintaining healthy tech refresh and disaster recovery programs, targeting appropriate levels of performance and high availability testing, and the incorporation of emerging risk and information security concerns.
  • Project planning and prioritization with a key focus on the flow of high value features that can be delivered in frequent releases.
  • Continuously drive improvements in business value delivery and the reduction of overall total cost of ownership for your application portfolio.
  • Resource forecasting and resource hiring to ensure team is correctly staffed and has effective team mix to maximize overall team quality and effectiveness.
  • Ensure that every member of the team is working and growing at an optimal but sustainable pace. Work with them to remove obstacles, train as necessary, mentor the team to be become better problem solvers, and never lose sight of each individual’s professional development needs.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field or the foreign equivalent.

- 5 – 10 years experience working as a hands-on (actively coding) Application Development Lead or related role.

- Technologies

- Java – Expert-level implementation skills with Java and J2EE.

- Database – Expert-level implementation skills with ORM frameworks like Hibernate/JPA or MyBatis. Must be highly proficient in SQL preferably across multiple databases.

- Web Services – Strong experience with SOAP web services using JAX-B or Axis or REST frameworks

- MQ – Experience with MQ interfaces

- Application Servers – Broad and deep understanding of multiple application server platforms including Apache Tomcat and IBM WebSphere.

- General – Comfortable in more than one programming language and have a firm grasp of fundamental web/internet technologies.

- Excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken forms).
