The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) is one of J.P. Morgan’s core businesses, and a global leader across banking, markets and investor services. The Legal Group which supports the CIB provides transactional and strategic legal support as required for the various businesses within the CIB and is organized across different practice groups. 
 
Opportunity
 
The Frankfurt Legal Department is looking for a lawyer to join a team of lawyers supporting the German CIB business. The role will report to the Senior Regional Counsel for Germany and will also interact with the EMEA Practice Group Heads primarily for Markets, Lending and M&A.
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Identifying and managing legal risk and advising the business and other stakeholders on relevant legal and regulatory issues;
  • Advising on legal and regulatory developments;
  • Reviewing, negotiating and drafting legal transactional documentation for Markets, Lending and M&A;
  • Assisting in the development of policies, procedures and standard forms;
  • Coordination as needed with the CIB Legal Practice Groups for Markets, Lending and M&A;
  • Coordination with and engagement of external counsel as and when required.
Requirements
  • Attorney must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction
  • Excellent verbal communication and experience of dealing with senior management in challenging and demanding situations and under tight deadlines
  • Experience in transactional workflow and ability to deal in an informed manner with a wide range of products
  • A self-starter able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
