The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to the Corporation.  The department also includes the Office of the Secretary.
Legal is organized by Practice Groups that conform to the organization of the Firm's lines of business (LOBs) and corporate staff areas, allowing the legal staff to work closely with specific groups on a daily basis. Each line of business has an LOB General Counsel, who is the Practice Group Head and who reports to the Firm's General Counsel. This structure provides the means for the legal teams to communicate legal and regulatory changes to the businesses and staff areas, and for the LOBs and staff areas to communicate business developments that have legal or regulatory implications to the legal teams in a timely manner. 
 
Position Description:
                                               
The Legal Solutions Group is implementing a new legal matter management system. The team is seeking a project manager to help execute the matter management program. This role provides the opportunity to contribute to a major program to drive and influence positive change across the Legal department. This project management position will work with all legal Practice Groups and report to the legal matter management program manager. This position will be based in Jersey City.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Working with the Business to gather requirements for the new system
  • Partnering with Legal Technology to coordinate technology work streams throughout all phases (e.g., design, build, testing and deployment)
  • Continually enhance the end-to-end user experience the new system can provide; and document and build in lessons learned
  • Manage timelines, anticipate bottlenecks and proactively manage on time and in quality delivery on milestones
  • Work closely with stakeholders to develop and refine recommended solutions
  • Understand risks, issues, and action items and engage program lead and senior executives as needed
  • Positively and creatively influence needed department change; help others to adapt to change
  • Good team player, be receptive to feedback and create opportunities for others to learn
  • Contribute to a culture of engagement and continuous improvement
Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor degree required, MBA preferred (but not mandatory)
  • Technology background required, Legal or Financial services background is preferred, but not required
  • 7+ years relevant experience required, ideally technology, consulting, legal industry experience with a focus on technology, project management for large technology build-outs and deployments
  • Strategic decision making and problem solving skills required
  • Must be highly organized and able to execute on several workstreams concurrently
  • Professional maturity, strong executive-level communication skills and proven track record in collaborating with diverse stakeholders and influencing change
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated team player with a strong interest in learning, creating efficient processes and a seamless user experience
