About Learning and Development
J.P. Morgan is looking for an experienced Learning and Development (L&D) professional to join the China L&D team. Responsibilities include successfully executing China L&D priorities – through building and fostering an integrated culture, talent development, and optimizing L&D processes and partnership across the region.
 
This is a country training and development lead role for China, aligning delivery of all initiatives across the wider APAC lines of business (LOBs) to ensure a streamlined, consistent approach to learning & development in line with Regional and Global priorities.
 
Strategy:
  • Create a unified Learning and Development strategy for all lines of businesses in China, aligned to the global strategy and regional platform 
  • Direct the planning, implementation, and evaluation of talent development, training and coaching activities for different LOBs
 
Client and stakeholder management:
  • Work closely with China Organizational Development lead and Regional Learning and Development leads in planning and implementing the Development portfolio’s Talent, Change, Performance Development and Diversity streams in China
  • Develop productive relationships with the global and regional Learning and Development leads (Talent & Diversity), partnering on key organizational development initiatives to align design and successfully execute the regional plan
  • Collaborate with the APAC Relationship Managers, Country Relationship Managers and Development lead to ensure the successful execution of work
  • Develop effective relationships with all key HR and LOB partners; provide thought leadership advice and collaborate closely to support their  leadership and talent development issues
  • Attend global and regional meetings; influence, contribute and create alignment between global strategy and regional agenda
  • Develop a deep understanding of business challenges and ensure that their strategic learning needs are met
 
Implementation of book of work (interventions, training solutions, global & regional programs):
 
  • Scope design and deliver ad-hoc project deliverables, e.g. support business offsites
  • Conduct assessment of implementation and quality of learning and development interventions
  • Monitor the process for budgeting for resources to meet identified training and development activities
  • Execute the global Performance Development & Diversity curriculum, adapting course content only when necessary to meet regional / country needs
  • Facilitate classroom training or virtual sessions. Where solutions cannot be met by the training specialist, they would be expected to identify and recommend solutions from either within JPMorgan or externally
  • Partner with external vendors (as required) to ensure the content and delivery is aligned to the firm’s leadership attributes, business principles, culture and regional strategic drivers
  • Scope, design and develop in-house training (if required) to provide relevant training solutions
  • Effectively identify customer needs and negotiate appropriate cost effective solutions
  • Oversee the introduction of learning and development tools (360, Individual Development Plans, etc.) and other executive assessments to maintain richness of feedback
 
Project Management:
  • Use a project methodology to plan, execute and evaluate all deliverables
  • Identify and implement the appropriate evaluation process for initiatives in order to measure and report on effectiveness to key stakeholders. Continuously improve solutions based on the feedback given
  • Identify, collect and disseminate key training metrics for benchmarking purposes
  • Strive to improve processes, methods, systems, or services and to view things in new ways or from a different perspective.
  • Plans ahead for upcoming problems or opportunities and takes appropriate action
  • Manage the book of work budget, as required
 
Manage and Lead
  • Effective in acquiring and managing people as top talent
  • Ensure that staff have documented development plans with quarterly progress views
  • Take advantage of opportunities to supplement skills and knowledge for staff as well as self
  • Hold regular meetings – coaching and book of work deliverables throughout the year to review objectives
  • Agree priorities and set SMART objectives for each specific deliverable from the portfolio book of work
  • Effectively project manage team to achieve required deadlines, quality and measurement standards for allocated book of work completion status, amend as necessary and communicate current performance status
  • Try new approaches when problem solving, seek ideas, or suggestions from others as appropriate. Share ideas broadly and keep current with advancements and changes to maintain forward view.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to ensure the staff deliver against their book of work

 

Requirements:
 
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working for a large, complex business and delivering leadership development programs within a changing business environment
  • Awareness and demonstrated application of leading edge technology trends within the learning environment
 
 
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 
  • Demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills to facilitate the successful attainment of learning and development goals by individuals and/or groups
  • Proven talent management, leadership development and design experience
  • Proven ability to engage and influence all levels of the organization, to establish credibility and gain respect of employees, peers, managers, and leaders
  • Proven ability to facilitate and deliver training programs
  • Ability to work in a matrix/decentralized organization
  • Project management skills experience in delivering value-creating projects, on time and within budget
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and innovative thinking to respond to changing business circumstances and structures.
  • Makes timely and balanced decisions, based on available information, using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or devolving appropriate solutions, but is prepared to review if circumstances change
  • Effectively manages time and resources to manage more than one task at a time; at the same time ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently
  • Assumes ownership of problems and sees them through to resolution, making appropriate decisions where necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written English and Mandarin
