The Location Control Office (LCO) is responsible for the implementation and execution of governance and controls over operational risk. The LCO group works in close partnership with the Business Control Officers (BCOs) and Operation Control Managers (OCMs) and other control professionals that support activities locally, regionally, and globally and is functionally aligned to the CIB Custody and Fund Services Business Control Office and to the EMEA Regional Control Office.

 

In support of both local and corporate requirements, and in accordance with business development plans, the successful candidate will work closely with location senior management and regional advisors to expand and maintain the end-to-end governance and control framework for JPM Bank Luxembourg (JPMBL) and its branches across business lines to identify, anticipate, escalate and remediate relevant control issues. The candidate will report matters to the Authorised Management of the JPM Bank Luxembourg legal entity.

 

A successful candidate should be interested in working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, participating in key initiatives, joining the executive leadership team in the location, and becoming involved in a diverse set of issues that will have a direct impact on the organization.  This role is varied and demanding and requires the ability to think strategically and partner with diverse teams to drive efficiency and process enhancement.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Evolve and further embed a governance and control model consistent with the business, legal entity, and regional frameworks required for local regulation and corporate standards
  • Monitor and enhance controls associated with compliance with local regulatory requirements for operational risk, specifically for offshoring
  • Provide a bridge across lines of business, corporate functions, risk, compliance and audit to form an end-to-end view on controls, identifying and assessing potential control gaps and/or emerging risks
  • Ensure operational risk control and regulatory matters are escalated, logged, remediated, and closed in accordance with local and corporate guidance
  • Enhance and continuously evaluate effectiveness of metrics and reporting
  • Evaluate data and trends to identify improvement opportunities and associated issues and risks
  • Partner with other control professionals (primarily BCOs and OCMs), to ensure Risk & Control Self Assessments, issues, action plans, and risk events are treated in accordance with policy and support the timely escalation and resolution of issues relating to the legal entity
  • Support Internal (Corporate and Local) and External Audit and Compliance work (where appropriate) in the execution of operational risk control reviews and external regulatory examinations
  • Act as the primary contact for legal entity controls for regulatory matters and support local Authorized Management in executing their supervisory responsibilities for operational risk controls
  • Support global, regional and local projects to deliver a robust operational risk control framework


Your Qualifications:

  • Highly motivated, energetic self-starter who takes ownership of issues and drives them to resolution
  • Significant experience in controls, operational risk, internal audit and/or other control related functions within the banking sector
  • Demonstrated ability to manage direct and indirect teams
  • Good organizational skills – manages and prioritizes multiple tasks across different time horizons within deadlines
  • Experienced negotiator — able to identify and influence key decision makers across various levels and functions within the organization
  • Strong analytical, problem solving & process re-engineering skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present information in differing degrees of detail and form depending on the audience
  • Ability to deal with issues on a local, regional, and global, cross-business level
  • Ability to question and probe across Operations, Technology, Product and other functions
  • Investigative mindset, able to see issues at both a high-level and in detail
  • Strong team player with excellent partnering and influencing skill
  • Thinks strategically and articulates concepts clearly
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and process re-engineering skills
  • Excellent Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills
