The Junior Rates Trader on the AUD/NZD Rates desk in Sydney will work closely with an exceptional team of industry experts and assist in the overall risk management of the business. Our teams research and identify opportunities and risk, and develop and execute complex financial transactions while working in a dynamic business environment. Your duties will be focused across the Swaps desks but time will also be spent in the Securities and Inflation business.
 
Key Accountabilities / Major Responsibilities:   
  • Reconciling trading desk positions, confirmations, and monitoring global order book
  • Assisting in the clearing and hedging of short end rates risk and running short end matching systems
  • Execution of funding roll positions
  • Capturing of trades in risk management systems
  • Participating in developing trading strategies
  • Collation and compilation of intra-day and end of day commentaries
  • Act as key liaison between trading desk, sales desk and operations including expertise on middle office systems
  • The quick resolution of queries that may arise
  • Developing STP solution to reduce risk and increase operational efficiency
  • Targeted risk taking over time in line with structured limits
  • A tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Economics or a related discipline
  • Exceptional quantitative, analytical and communication skills
  • Genuine interest in financial markets and economic data and trends
  • Excel, Powerpoint and Word proficiency
  • Excellent leadership and collaborative skills
Knowledge & Experience Preferred:
  • Previous relevant work experience on a trading/sales desk in a dealing room
  • Solid knowledge of markets and products
  • Proficiency in Coding Languages (Matlab,Python, SQL etc)
