Private Banking Operations supports JPMorgan Wealth Management, the world’s premier service provider for ultra-high-net-worth individuals.  Our goal is to help affluent individuals across the globe optimize their wealth, after taxes and across generations.  Located in Newark, Delaware, the 400+ members of the Operations teams provide end-to-end support for all aspects of the client banking experience, working closely with sales, service, and product specialty groups.

The Custody Middle Office Team is comprised of highly dedicated individuals who are responsible for supporting the Custody business team, as well as performing operational duties including: Foreign Account Opening and Support, Operational team support, ad hoc projects and Data Feed Support. Within this role, the VP will interface with senior business partners including Bankers, Investors, Product teams, as well as Technology Partners and outside Data Aggregators.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the day to day operations a team within the Custody Middle Office
  • Manage and have oversight for 3 - 5 individuals

  • Lead tactical initiatives around improving service, solution and processes to support current custody business

  • Serve as the key point person to set policies that govern custody product and handle the escalation and resolution of complex servicing issues

  • Ensure operational controls are effective and compliant with regulations governing the securities industry and internal policies 

  • Manage key performance indicators to ensure exception levels remain within or below targets.  Continued focus on eliminating root causes creating exceptions.

  • Conduct end to end reviews of all processes and procedures with a focus to remediate any control gaps and to improve efficiency, capacity and quality.

  • Active participant in defining future state of operations from a functional, technology and location perspective

  • Recruit, develop and retain diverse talent, ensuring that they fully appreciate the financial and client implications of the products and services supported.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on cross-functional business initiatives and projects

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal clients and operational groups

 

  • Experience leading organizational/process change
  • Ability to drive and adapt to a rapidly changing business and technological environment
  • Broad experience within financial operations with a particular emphasis on Securities Processing
  • Strong knowledge and detailed understanding of the securities industry and products, settlement processes, and securities servicing functions (corporate actions, income, proxy, equities, fixed income, mutual funds, ADRs)
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
  • Demonstrated project management experience across organizational boundaries
  • Ability to work in high-pressure situations
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to resolve issues and set direction
  • Strong ability to make strategic decisions/recommendations and to take calculated risks
  • In-depth understanding the functions, workflows and technologies that are utilized across a securities operations environment
  • A working knowledge of the custody and fiduciary/trust business
  • Strong partnership and highly effective communication skills
  • Strong influencing, negotiating and decision making skills
  • Proven track record of managing teams of people (recruitment, training, development, talent assessment and succession planning)
  • Ability to develop good relationships with and gain the confidence of internal clients
  • Outstanding time management and prioritization techniques
  • Ability to quickly learn new functions
  • Required PC skills include strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite of applications
  • FINRA Series 99 required by 120 days of hired
