Job Description

Database Applications Developer is required to work with a global database support team supporting DB servers firm wide. The successful candidate is expected to understand the database domain and have software development skills across the full stack. The candidate is expected to deliver automated solutions for DB operations, DB monitoring and DB Controls, thus helping the larger team effectively utilize resources for value-add activities.
Working Hours

Staff will be required to work 5 days a week for 9 hour a day, including weekends occasionally if the situation demands it.
  • Responsible to follow the Agile/SCRUM practices of the development team.
  • Responsible to build automation tools for end-to-end service delivery.
  • Responsible to interface with One Standards (Oracle/Sybase/MS-SQL) Programs as well as the larger GSO Database Production Support team to incorporate feedback and requirements.
  • Responsible to automate, streamline and harmonize control processes and procedures to achieve continuous improvements and productivity gains and drive efficiencies.
  • Responsible to document controls procedures, processes, FAQs, Wiki and SharePoint pages.
  • Responsible to track the progress of various projects, action items and bring them to closure within the target dates committed as well as to report progress on a continual basis
Required Skills:
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with different teams and management.
  • Ability to work in a complex global environment and interact with various teams from Business Development, Infrastructure and software vendor support teams
  • Takes responsibility for the code throughout the entire development cycle.
  • Contribute ideas to application features, design and development.
  • Improve code quality iteratively through increased test coverage and extensive code review.
  • Quality driven attitude; strong desire to perform thorough and exhaustive unit, integration and system testing
  • Scripting or/and programming experience (C/Shell/Perl/Python/Java) and web-programming (Java Script or Perl/CGI).
  • Functional programming experience in PL/SQL, T-SQL or i-SQL, reporting tool, SOA applications, XML/JSON services (micro services).
  • Good Exposure in Python
Additional Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working with one or more type of RDBMS - Oracle versions 10g, 11gR1/2 in a UNIX environment, MSSQL Server and/or Sybase.
  • Understanding of Database Architecture, Operating Systems, Client/Server Architecture, Middleware and Hardware (Servers, SAN, Network).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Share-point tools for documentation, tracking and reporting purposes
  • Working knowledge of open source frameworks, tools and technologies such as Django, Swagger and REST
Qualifications/Experience Required
  • Excellent technical knowledge gained from hands on role within a global organization.
  • Skills must be current and ability to demonstrate hands-on
  • 3+ years of experience working with a Technical Product Development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Open Source project contribution and/or participated in Code Hackathons
  • Skilled in at least one programming language and building micro-services with full-stack development exposure
  • Self-starter with ability to acquire new skills autonomously
  • Good team player as well as be a leader for specific tasks assigned
  • Takes ownership of issues to solve till the end
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills in English language
  • Willingness to work hard and smart with good attitude
  • Willing to adapt quickly to changes and priorities
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and a dynamic environment
  • Aptitude to learn business knowledge and new technologies
  • A “can do” attitude
