J.P. Morgan Wealth Management (WM) delivers the highest quality advice, service, capabilities and products to high-net-worth individuals and families in every major market throughout the world. We deliver highly customized and tailored solutions to help clients with the many complexities they face by leveraging the commercial and investment banking capabilities of the firm. WM addresses every facet of wealth management from investment management and brokerage to tax and estate planning, credit, raising of capital, and specialty wealth advisory services.
Within Wealth Management, the Global Controls Management organization’s primary function is to (i) ensure a sustainable and disciplined end-to-end control environment for WM; (ii) identify and escalate issues with a sense of urgency; and, (iii) partner with the business to ensure timely remediation of issues.
The Controls Program Team (CPT) – part of the Global Controls Management organization – launched in Q1 2017 with a principal mission to manage the transition of major Controls programs into a sustainable future-state BAU within WM, including (i) planning and leading the transition of those programs from individual program teams into the Controls Management organization framework; (ii) directing processes that ensure ongoing sustainability across the WM business; and, (iii) serving as the subject matter lead to key members of the Controls Management organization and their business partners across all regions, products and practices WM-wide.
Executive Directors will serve as Program Control Leads (PCLs), working closely with the CPT Head; Program Control Managers (PCMs) and other CPT team members; colleagues across WM, as well as with Asset & Wealth Management; and firm-wide program partners, to successfully deliver on the team’s mission. Each PCL leads a team with responsibility for either a major program, or a group of programs.
Based in Brooklyn, New York, the Initiatives & Governance Program Control Lead will have global responsibility for a portfolio of controls initiatives and governance frameworks, with responsibilities and priorities that include:
Managing the successful execution of firm-wide & WM controls initiatives, and ultimately transitioning them to a sustainable BAU state across WM globally to ensure a sound foundation for long-term controls management in the business
Partnering with Business Control Officers, Business Management, Legal, Risk, and Compliance and other key partners and functional leads to coordinate with and support the RCSA program relative to their programs or initiatives
Collaborating with team members to plan the 2018 and 2019 roadmap for in-progress initiatives, ongoing governance frameworks, initiative transitions, and future (incoming) pipeline
Driving consistent execution disciplines across the team’s entire scope of programs and initiatives
Developing strategies for evaluating, escalating and reporting to senior management
Working with other PCLs and PCMs to enhance and strengthen our methodology and approach for the Controls Program Team
Building and maintaining excellent relationships between members of the team and our internal partners and colleagues across the business
- 10 years program management, management consulting, or equivalent experience in complex financial enterprises
- Knowledge of wealth management businesses, as well as controls, compliance and/or risk management strongly preferred
- Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to successfully engage a broad range of individuals at all levels of seniority across various business segments and key support functions
- Experience in leading global initiatives and solving diverse execution challenges
- Strong ability to learn new concepts, systems, processes, and initiatives
Exceptional critical thinking, program management, analytical and communication skills with the ability to directly address conflicts and escalate issues where appropriate
Highly effective at multi-tasking and adapting to changing priorities in a dynamic business environment, and at continually assessing and reprioritizing team’s focus on key priorities in delivering for the business
