Group Description
 
The EMEA CRO team supports the EMEA Chief Risk Officer (also the Firmwide Risk Executive - Market Risk), the Legal Entity Risk Managers in EMEA, and the cross risk legal entity interactions across EMEA. The team is responsible for the governance and oversight of the Risk Management function in EMEA, across all lines of business. The role will report to the Head of EMEA LE Risk Strategy, and work with legal entities and businesses operating in the EMEA region, and risk and control functions globally. The group also interacts regularly with local regulators on behalf of the Risk function.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the implementation of risk initiatives in the region that span across risk stripes. Ensure change is managed and controlled effectively, with robust governance and oversight frameworks.
  • Represent the Risk function in working groups and oversight forums with regard to a wide range of topics such as New Business Initiation Approvals, official responses to regulators, commercial strategy, legal entity strategy.
  • Further develop the legal entity risk management framework across the region, ensuring consistency within the region, and with global practices (for example Risk Appetite, Risk identification, Stress Testing, Recovery and Resolution, ICAAP).
  • Support local legal entity risk managers in their risk oversight responsibilities
  • Provide support for ad hoc management, or regulatory, demands.
  • Draft or review executive-level presentations and talking points for senior leaders to use with internal stakeholders.
Skillset/Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree; Masters/MBA a benefit.
  • Extensive experience in a Risk function or related field.
  • Strong general business awareness, particularly with regard to CIB products.
  • Ability to identify root causes, and construct effective and sustainable strategic solutions.
  • Demonstrable familiarity with regulatory requirements. Experience of communicating with regulators, or similar, would be beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills gained within a financial, regulatory and risk environment
  • Ability to build strong professional relationships, including with senior managers.
  • Strong partnership and team building abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and lead virtual teams.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills required.
