Summary
Reporting to the Chief Credit & Risk Officer, the Senior Portfolio Credit Analyst will be an integral part of the Credit Risk Management team with primary responsibility for the analysis, review and monitoring of an assigned existing portfolio of merchant counterparties. 
 
Using well developed credit skills, the Senior Portfolio Credit Analyst will prepare and submit analyses and recommendations to the Chief Credit & Risk Officer and the EU Risk Committee on individual names.
 
The role demands a strong combination of interpersonal, analytical and decision-making skills and is very much centered on risk management.  Risk must be understood and communicated, and credit exposures kept in line with the Company’s limit on risk bearing.
 
Main Responsibilities
  • Review of existing merchants to identify risks associated with financial profile, processing and compliance with Payment Brand Rules of merchants as follows:
    • Perform detailed advanced level financial statement analysis based on key financial ratios utilizing Moody’s financial spreading software
    • Review business model and processing characteristics  for existing merchants to ensure compliance with Payment Brand rules and regulations
    • Document the results of findings in written form and make recommendation based on the totality of findings
  • Perform collateral reviews upon request and recommend appropriate terms
  • Monitor merchant portfolio on an ongoing basis and assume responsibility for producing monthly statistics
  • Support other management directives as prescribed.
Requirements
Essential
 
  • Bachelors degree in business management, finance or accounting or similar field
  • Solid credit analytical experience,
  • Strong financial statement analytical ability; 
  • Excellent narrative writing and critical thinking abilities 
  • Advanced excel capabilities
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and the impact of changes on financial condition
  • Ability to analyze private company financials as well as financials of publicly traded companies
  • Capability to develop and recommend financial risk strategies based on well researched facts and analytics
  • Strong communication skills partnering with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Good organization skills and ability to work within time constraints in a highly regulated industry  
 
Preferred
  • Experience within the payments industry or a banking environment
  • Proficiency in additional EU languages
